We're in town for the first weekend for a bachelor party. Mostly early-mid 30s, mostly married, generally tame (for the most part).

Any suggestions for a club that gentlemen may frequent on a Saturday night in the French Quarter?

It's been years since I've visited any of those places, so maybe else someone will have more specific suggestions, but my advice would be to stick with the "name brand" clubs like Hustler or Ricks.

Yep, it's no fun to find out you've been actually looking at men.

You could look the other way! From the amazing 'Making of Nine Lives' thread:

Herman Roscoe Ernest III on drums - a track he could have played in his sleep. He was such a funny man. This was one of many moments where he made us forget just how much he was hurting from his illness by telling stories and making us laugh til we cried. I explained the scene in the book to him, how it was man dressed like a woman at which point he shot me a look and said, " Hey now, I don't know 'bout this one...". I started telling him how we had written it as a Bourbon Street stripper song, a light went off and he completely understood where we were headed. He smiled and said, "This is like Donna the Bubble Girl." I laughed and said I didn't know about her. "You never heard of Donna the Bubble girl? She had an act on Bourbon street, was a man dressed like a chick, dancing in a giant champagne glass that had bubbles coming out of it." The fact that I could hardly breathe from laughing didn't slow him down as he went on to say, " Bitch was fine too, I wouldn't look though, knew that bitch was a man, played my drums with my head turned the other way." He demonstrated by doing so. The man knew how to make people laugh. What a beautiful cat.

I don't know much about these places but for gods sake please avoid a place called Dixie Divas.

On Iberville near Chartres. When we stay at the Marriott we walk past it to get to Acme/Felix's, Bourbon and the rest of the FQ.

Holy shit is that place scary looking. I am fascinated by it. Never actually been inside but always leer in through the open door as I pass by.

The always have a skanky, and I mean REALLY skanky girl outside by the door trying to lure people in. And I figure if she's the one they put outside by the door she must be the very best thing they have. It's like a circus freakshow inside there I am pretty sure.

I swear I hear banjos coming out of that place (hidden in behind the Guns and Roses) everytime I walk past.

Wow! That was spectacular in its weirdness on so many levels.

I love that the dude in the middle is playing a small suitcase.

+2, good stuff right there.

As for the topic at hand, I'd follow the advice of sticking to "brand name" spots....

i own that same suitcase. it tough to keep tuned.

the guitar player has a car window cup holder on the side of his barrel - with a canned beverage in it. banjo player has (or hd) an empty cup holder on his.

i think i've been to too many festivals, to me they were unique but not weird.
i thought they were quite enjoyable.

Right? This didn't even come close to strange for me! The Burning Man fashion dividend has us jaded out here - Lady Gaga wouldn't get a 2nd look most days. But if you liked the tune & humor, check out Poor Mans Whiskey full-length epic Dark Side of the Moonshine!

Great bluegrass album name. Surprised it hadn't been used before...
