It was an old one......Lara Spencer hosting instead of the guy (which is a good thing). Some lady who's mother had her house built by Frank Lloyd Wright had a bunch of letters between him and her mom and original drawings for the designs for her moms house. Just what they showed was worth like 200 grand.

At least she was excited about it.

Well, I'm a Scots Lush (a very rare bird) . . . and as I ate a big lunch and am not driving anywhere, I'm not too concerned :D

Thanks for the Abita distributor list - sadly the nearest place in Cali is in Richmond and that's 2.5-3 hours away from here. :(

Every once in a Blue Moon (another fine brew), the Natural Food Co-op in Sacramento where I was a member/owner would get it in - but that was a while back, and even that's an hour and half away.

Sigh. Gotta get back to NOLA.

Those are just the area distributors - what you do is go to your local liquor store and give THEM the info and tell 'em you want to order a case, assure them it is a GREAT beer, tell 'em if they stock it that it will fly off the shelf. We did that and now we have to order it because they can't believe that it is so popular - it keeps selling out as soon as they bring it in !!!!!

No, we have to pass a swim test to go white water rafting at Boy Scout camp. I haven't been swimming in 3 years and then it was only to pass the test back then. I'm older now and a lot more delicate!!!! LOL... I just need to build some cardio and endurance so I'm trying to bike and do some walking in the AM w/ Brenda.

Satchmo and TH meet-ups are starting to give me real bad FOMTH :( . I'll be in Philly for my bi-yearly wholesale show the first weekend of August. I'm then going to Mom's house in CT and stay for the week 'cause my H.S. reunion is the next weekend. Missing all of the Satchmo goodness...:(

Oh well, Festgiving then, I hope...Festngator, it seems your house is back in order, dental work emergency or not ain't fun...I have to make an appointment-good news is that I get to put someone else's kid through school now hahaha

Forum was nice, beautiful place up in Napa, seems like everybody is going to miss me -- haha! Got a nice pix with my two former bosses who are both at new firms now (one left 4 years ago). Dinner in the wine cave I sat right next to Judges Montali (PG&E case) and Carlson, and a 9th Circuit BAP Judge from Portland, had some nice conversations about BK and the judges back in Idaho and Montana (still 9th Circuit). One of the 2 Idaho BK judges is also on BAP (Bankruptcy Appellate Panel) and was there, but I didn't meet him.

The whole Pink Flamingo gang rides again in this 1974 release from Baltimorean John Waters. It's the classic tale of Good Girl Gone Bad...all because her parents refuse to buy her a pair of cha cha heels for Christmas.
Follow the life and times of spoiled schoolgirl Dawn Davenport as she runs away from home, gets pregnant while hitchhiking, and ends up as a fashion model for a pair of beauticians who enjoy photographing women in the act of committing crimes.

From loving schoolgirl to a crazed mass-murderer over a pair of shoes! :D

"F.T." fits in the comedy/crime genre and features the following actors:

Starring Divine as Dawn Davenport/ Earl Peterson
Mink Stole as Taffy Davenport
Edith Massey as Ida Nelson
Susan Walsh as Chicklette

And many others.

Taglines:

"Nice girls don't wear cha cha heels."

"She has a lot of problems."

"A high point in low taste."

Other films by Waters include "Hairspray" and "Polyester", the first scratch 'n sniff movie!

Anyway, hope you're feeling better, sweetie!

Sorry, Rosy - I conked out just after I came into the bar and before you came back . . .

It was a great weekend, gorgeous weather. We got to train a great new volunteer krewe and increase their HIV/AIDS sensitivity to better work with our participants. Also, we got to say goodbye to and celebrate a couple of longtime volunteers who died last year (which was sad, but good) and then raft on the river - Woo Hoo!!

So, I'm tired, but it's a good tired! :)

I missed it too porkchop. I think it's cause it was missing the shove.

Scoop I LOVED when Newman said "Vile weed!" all dramatic. Hilarious. Also at the very end when Kramer's chowing down on the chicken and bouncing back and forth in his bed when the Kenny's Roaster sign goes out. He gets all confused with a mouthful of chicken saying, "Kenny? KENNY??" and then the big waaaaah face. Love it!

You actually ran instead of pushing a keg? Who does that? Heh heh ;) One friend had a rolling bar, his evite description started with "To the outsider, it looks like 7 Kenyans running away from 70,000 lunatics, but to those who know, it is the greatest Sunday of the year."

I've got lots of naked pix I can post too! I'm not saying they're nice to look at, but they're full frontal!

Here's a sign for you Kitten:

http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o99/amyp226/B2B047.jpg
Well . . . that was back in my running/nerd days.

Although the second time I ran it, I volunteered to help out at the start line (so I wouldn't have to pay the entrance fee) - which meant we had to be there at 4-5 A.M. . . . my friend who was running it with me, showed up not having slept and had been dinkin Guinness all night, AND wearing Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers to run the 12k in!!!

So, I did once very seriously and once not so much - great naked people sightings though! :D

Hee hee, I'm just joking, that sign cracked me up! Earlier in the day I did see a few people seriously jogging it, trying to make their way through the drunken patry scene (they must have stopped for breakfast or something to get stuck back in the crowd of revelers!)

Yeah, it's become more of a party on feet (which is how I've always described it) than a road race (unless you're one of the elite runners, who get a special "pre-start" start) . . . but that's what I really love about it now, as I'm NOT a serious runner anymore (gave it up for Lent and never got it back ;))

Yeah, it'll be okay eventually, and it's great that CFF is doing so well, has such interest from all over and so many of our Threadhead Nation family is able to go enjoy it (which is a truly excellent thing and hopefully I can go in the future) - maybe though people could discuss that on the CFF thread (which I don't torture myself reading) and we could have other discussions here in the bar? Thanks, I need it. Enjoyed Coney Island today and reminded myself why I love NY (love N'Awlins too.) 48 years old, lived here all my life and rode the friggin Cyclone for the first time in my life. The most terrifying 2 minutes I've ever spent.

For those who don't know, the Cyclone is I think the second oldest rollercoaster in the U.S. Built in the 20's I believe. It's small, it's rickety, it's reaches about 60 mph, (which on an old wooden coaster with sharp turns and steep drops is FAST) and how I didn't have a heart attack is beyond me. I swear I almost needed someone to hold me when it was over. (i think I opened my eyes and unclenched my hands about 5 minutes after I got off)

Oooh, I love roller coasters!

Well everybody should have the chance to ride the Cyclone at least once!

The Cyclone: Nostalgia, Mixed with a Beating
By James Barrows

Coney Island’s Cyclone is the classic Brooklyn tough-guy embodied in a roller coaster. Squat, compact, an incomprehensible mess of wood and steel, it seems at first innocuous. But like the Brooklyn tough, its looks deceive. While other coasters thrill with height and speed, the Cyclone aims for the gut, assaulting riders with an implausible series of drops and hairpin turns, rearranging their insides while their faces transform from anticipation to incredulity to fear.

As it pummels riders, the Cyclone defies change. After 75 years, passengers still jockey for position on the platform as if waiting for a subway. A manual lever still launches the train. The chain still jerks and rattles, and the screech and roar of the wheels still eclipse passengers' screams. It’s a kind of time machine—a tumbling ride through seven decades to Coney Island’s past.....

.....The Cyclone stands in a borough defined as much by what it has lost as by what remains. The Dodgers are gone and Ebbets Field is rubble under concrete. Streetcars were scrapped and their tracks buried. But among the things that remain are a magnificent bridge, a brutal coaster and an elevated railway running between them. In a two-minute eternity, the Cyclone puts Brooklyn back together—nostalgia, mixed with a beating.

This is my fave coaster that I've been on -- Goliath at Six Flags Los Angeles -- gets up to 85 mph and there are some corners where the g force nearly makes you black out :)

That looks scary too. The Cyclone is actually the only roller coaster I've ever been on. I figured I might as well try the best. The thing about it, besides being old and rickety, is that it's crammed into a 75'x500' lot so it's just one thing after another with no breaks.

Start here and take a little slide show. http://www.joyrides.com/coney_island/cyclone1.htm

Wait, is this the first time you've ever been on a roller coaster, did I read that right? You didn't ride this same coaster as a kid?

Nope, I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to stuff like this. Have a fear of heights if I'm on anything the least bit unstable. I can go on the top of the Empire State Building or look off over a moutain top or a bridge, but put me on a six foot ladder to change a light bulb and I'm shakey. Strange how it works with me.

But to answer your question, this was the first and only rollercoaster I have ever been on.

My uncle used to take us when we were real little to Coney Island. I remember the Cyclone and the Wild Mouse, some ride the was snow-themed and went around faster and faster and played rock and roll music.
I also remember my uncle "faking" that he didn't have the toll $ and asking the toll taker if he could trade for one of us....ahhhhh, sweet youth....:D

Well good for you for giving it a try then! I didn't used to be scared of anything as a kid, now there are some things I'm not quite up for (have never bungee jumped and probably never will at this point!) ;)

Somehow I don't see bungee jumping in my future either. :)
