YYR Bonterra. Very good. I still perfer BV I like merlot on the oaky side. My absolute favorite is Opus but can't afford it. I used to have a boss that would give me bottle every christmas.

Purrfect and OMG do I need a drink!!!

Why do clutches hate me?? My clutch went out TWICE on my last car and now it seems to be going on THIS one!! I was going to have a drink with a friend then head up to SF for poker with the work boyz, and stopped to grab a few things at the salon. Parked in a tiny little underground lot that is super busy weekends, it's right under NOLA in Palo Alto, back out of the space (SAABs have to be in reverse to get the key in & out) and I can't get it into first gear and can't move!! Traffic is piling up behind me (traffic only goes through one way) and the a-hole behind me who wants my spot starts honking of course. As if I'm just sitting there for fun! You'd think people might come see what's wrong and try to help but no, not in Cali! After what seems like forever trying to force it into a gear, I finally manage to grind it into third and am able to get slightly out of the way -- blocking in a lot of cars but at least traffic can get around me . . . No cell phone reception in the underground garage, so I had to leave hazards on and go up to call AAA . . . Figuring after they tow the car to the dealership I'm going to have to get a cab to get 40 miles home, no public transport to the coast, that's over a hundred dollar cab fare . . .

WELL, thankfully, got back down to my car and decided to try once more, and then it worked fine . . . Figured I'd best just try to get home and Jeff & I will take it to the dealer tomorrow when he's back in town . . .

You know I've always had sticks -- learned to drive one one and all 5 cars I've had are sticks. The first clutch burn out was my fault, those hills in San Fran are killer. Since then I'll drive miles out of the way just to avoid hills. The second burn out in that car just confirmed it was cursed and it was time to get rid of it. This car has been great for a couple of years now. GRRRRR!!!!

Colbert Does It Again

Colbert has done it again. Just when I thought my adoration for this comedic genius had hit an absolute height, he has further pushed the boundaries. Of course all of the awards foisted upon him, as well as his performance at last year's White House Correspondents Dinner, made me sit up & take notice. But then he started receiving all sorts of impressive, superfluous honors...

Now, it was nice to see a minor league hockey team name a mascot after him. And I was duly impressed when he had a Hungarian bridge named after him. Even more so when Ben & Jerry named an ice cream for him ("Stephen Colbert's Americone Dream - the sweet taste of liberty in your mouth") and he defended his flavor against Willie Nelson's in a debate, ending with them singing together.

But I was positively FLOORED when the Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics sent a letter describing how Captain America had left his indestructible shield to Colbert in his will as he wanted it to go to "the only man he believed had the red, white and blue balls to carry the mantle - Stephen Colbert." Former supermodel Paulina Porizkova appeared on the show last night after earlier admitting on "the Today Show" that Colbert "is so hot." On the Colbert Report she not only reiterated that statement, but also very clearly illustrated that she has still got it. I believe there may also have been something about a new book.

For a patriotic kid who grew up with Marvel Comics, but then quickly discovered the joys of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, THIS is a pretty high honor indeed. (She appeared on the covers of both 1984 & 1985.)

The big news down here is that one of the schools turned away 25 of their girls for dressing inappropriately, so now all the schools are getting strict with what goes and what doesn't! It was the lead story on one of the stations down here a couple of days ago...i guess it's better than FEMA or any of the other stuff from the storm...

The school hosts an after prom function at the high school, but it basically sounds like lock-down in the gym 'til 5 AM to me! The prom was held at a nice country club and it sounds like they had a great time. My daughter & her beau changed their clothes and are watching a movie in the family room.

I can't imagine what the girls were wearing that could have prevented them from going to The Big Dance Of The Year! I mean, it seems like pretty much anything goes these days, doesn't it?:)

Because it needed it! The poor car was starting to frown and now she's smiling. I think she knows she's going to Jazzfest.

I did get my roots done. Today, as a matter of fact! Got my hair trimmed yesterday. And I have totally packed my backpack already so that's done. Will do the big suitcase tomorrow. And I'm not too excited to sleep yet. I'm still hoping that won't happen. I need all the rest I can get.

Yeah, sometimes it is fun to know that you can still have a good ol' time without adult beverages.

My squirrel had the best time at the dance! She looked so radiant when they came in the door! She said they had chicken & roast beef, green beans almandine, mashed potaotes that looked like a chrysanthemum, and chocolate cake. They danced and her favorite song they played was the B-52's "Love Shack"!
When they were leaving the house to go, her BF was so nervous, he forgot to open the car door for her! :D

They just don't make formal dresses that pass the standards that the schools want!

Jeff & I finally just did our Jazz Fest shopping! Took awhile to find what we needed, but I finally found 4 pairs of shorts, 3 tops, 2 dresses, I don't even know what Jeff got, we got single chairs just in case our double is a problem, new tarps and plastic lined blankets, a new soft side cooler (this time with wheels!), tape, sunscreen, wet wipes, I think we're about ready! We've got a big pile going in the living room too :)

lol, you go girl! I'm packed, too. Backpack and suitcase. Amazingly, I haven't even filled the suitcase. The reason why is I have to only pack for four days. Then I can come back home and pack again for the next weekend!
