oh yum... have you tried the Patron XO Cafe? i got a bottle for my birthday and haven't even opend it yet. Wow! That'll be big fun, glinda! I seriously entertained the idea of going to Bonnaroo this year because they are the headliners. I haven't seen the Police since right before they hit the big time. They had come over for their first U.S. tour and nobody knew who they were yet.

Their promotor had scheduled a few warm up gigs at smaller venues before the West coast leg of the national tour. They played at a small place not far from Syracuse, NY.

I went with some friends. Except for the band, roadies, and bar staff, I'd be surprised if there were 15 people in the club. It was a mother of a perfomance, and by the time they came back east, they were Arena Monsters! It was mind-boggling.

Even though Sting does sing a little off-key, I love his work. The stuff he did with Branford M. was exceptional, I thought.

Hope you have lots of fun at the Police gig. Make sure to give us a report!

Hey, Y'all!!! Well, between the Nor'easter and the tragedy at Virginia Tech, I feel like I kayaked back to another planet . . . I could use a dink.

The weather yesterday in S.F. was glorious!!! Sunny, clear and warm - with very little wind (for S.F.) - could not have asked for better kayaking weather.

I not only was the top fundraiser (and won a prize no less), but was one of the first solo women kayakers back in to port! Then, I got to enjoy a fun, gorgeous day in the City with some friends . . .

We raised over $23,000 total and had some 100 or so kayakers, not to mention we got a personal commendation from Mayor Gavin Newsome - next year when we do this again, we hope to be able to raise over $100,000!!!

Many, many deep heartfelt thanks to all of you who so generously supported me on this event!! :D

It was tremendous!!! Gorgeous weather, about 100 kayakers raising over $23,000 - I was the top fundraiser (thanks to you wonderful crazies) and won a prize for it!!

Not to mention, a great paddle in a super-cool hot pink kayak and hanging out with friends, listening to a good live band and sitting in the warm sun on soft grass and dinkin some beers!!

But then, the week started . . . ugh.

Well, I haven't either (not in the bisque anyway) but I'm pretty sure it would be just as good as putting it in your gumbo. I think it's a local thing. I know several people who put potato salad in their gumbo but they're all from New Orleans. One of them is from Poplarville, MS but that's close enough, lol.

Adding ethanol -- the type of alcohol found in rum, vodka, tequila and other spirits -- boosted the antioxidant nutrients in strawberries and blackberries, the researchers found.


Any colored fruit might be made even more healthful with the addition of a splash of alcohol, they report in the Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture.


Dr. Korakot Chanjirakul and colleagues at Kasetsart University in Thailand and scientists at the U.S. Department of Agriculture stumbled upon their finding unexpectedly.


They were exploring ways to help keep strawberries fresh during storage. Treating the berries with alcohol increased in antioxidant capacity and free radical scavenging activity, they found.


Any colored fruit or vegetable is rich in antioxidants, which are chemicals that can cancel out the cell-damaging effects of compounds called free radicals.


Berries, for instance, contain compounds known as polyphenols and anthocyanins. People who eat more of these fruits and vegetables have a documented lower risk of cancer, heart disease and some neurological diseases.

I know - isn't it GREAT ! I'm so excited that I called my friend and told her we had to go out to lunch because I couldn't stand being in the house any more.... I shoulda made the flight for this morning......but who knew that my anticipation would have been off the charts ?!?!?!?!

I can't wait to meet y'all. Seems like the first threadhead I'm going to meet is Rosetree.....I've volunteered myself at his studio on Monday and Tuesday to help them get things ready for the Fest and RT Fest - or whatever the hell they might need done. I figured if I didn't sign myself up for something productive -with my new found time - I would fritter it away..... I'm very excited !!

I do know. My laundry run will be Sunday. I am gonna go ahead and pack my backpack tonight or tomorrow, I think. I have to go get my car detailed tomorrow morning, then I have to color my roots, and then I have my black & white ball tomorrow night.
