I have a wwoz brasspass for the fest, and will only be attending the first weekend. Anybody in a similar situation who is only attending the second weekend? Maybe we could trade. Thanks!

Brass passes have your name engraved, and they check ID.

If you want to share, you need an "overpass", $100 extra.

my brasspass does not have my name on it - are you maybe thinking of a Big Chief pass or one of the other jazzfest issued passes? this is the wwoz pass that is a perk of donation - is my name on it somewhere that I am just not seeing?

hi, zydekogirl,

WWOZ has that one covered! It's called "The Overpass". It works just like the Brass Pass, but it allows multiple users the same benefits. If you wanted to upgrade to an OverPass, you could give WWOZ a call.

If the person bearing the Brass Pass is carrying ID that doesn't match up to the name on the master list, entry could be denied and the BP revoked. In years past, names were engraved on the passes, but now they are bar-coded and scanned at the gate.

So you could essentially "sell" it to someone for $100, less than 3 days of regular tickets

I guess in theory, but if two peeps share the total cost of one OverPass, it would be a $225 split.

I THINK this question was answered, but if you flip your brass pass over, you'll see a computer scan code - your name is linked to that code (i've seen robin at wwoz register every brass pass i've picked up) - your brass pass also has a number on it that your linked to -

the way to go would be an overpass (they are actually silver as opposed to the gold/brass of the brass pass) and as others have mentioned, are transferable to whoever and how many.....$450 a pop, but really not a bad deal if you're going to be there one weekend and want to split - however, if you've already got your brass pass,i'm not sure if you can "exchange" for an overpass - try emailing robin@wwoz.org - she knows everything :D

I had a Brass pass last year and I'm pretty sure nobody checked my ID when entering the Fest gates.

besides the obvious positives of giving the money to WWOZ, was it worth it?

re: post # 11 by Mc Gregor..."besides the obvious positives of giving the money to WWOZ, was it worth it?"

If you look at it from a purely economic perspective, I'd have to say no.
I'm going only 2nd week, so the daily cost is $108.33. Even if you bought tix at the gate, it would cost only $45.00 per day.

Unless you can eat $63.33 worth of strawberries and pineapple every day! :D

Of course, if you're going both weekends, then it's only about $54.16 per day.

True!

I only went first weekend last year, but got the brass pass mainly as a way to support WWOZ.
