It has been over six years since Malcolm “Papa Mali” Welbourne recorded his debut, Thunder Chicken, for Fog City Records. His Fog City follow-up, Do Your Thing, is scheduled to hit on January 23. On his studio effort Papa Mali is joined by a core band that includes celebrated New Orleans players Kirk Joseph, Henry Butler and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux along with Victoria Williams and JJ Grey. Some of this material may well be showcased when the Papa Mali performs two shows at the Parish Room in Austin on November 16 and 17, along with Topaz and the Greyhounds.

Great that Malcolm is doing this one. Can't wait !!! And very good to see Vicky Williams in on this too. Two great Shreveport talents (that don't come home nearly often enough :( ).

Had the pleasure of seeing Papa Mali on halloween in nyc. Trio with Robbie Kidd and Cass Faulconer. Awesome show. He gave free cds of Do Your Thing selections for those that stayed to the end...Monk comes through loud & clear on Early In The Morning.

Found this on the Papa Mali Blog - you can order the new CD now and get it by December 15: http://fogworld.com/papamali/doyourthing/
Got the email to see when it would be shipped:
The cd's are being pressed. The plant tells us that we should have the final product on December 10th and we will be shipping them immediately. We expect they should be arriving around December 15th barring any delays from the manufacturer.
Thank you for your support!

Well, you know he'll be in town. He's done his special clubshows the last couple years.
