When Superfly came out with their annoucement they said, "additional shows to be announced soon." I'm starting to think there won't be any more annoucments. The venues are filling up. I think they mentioned more shows at Vegoose that never showed up either.

They just added a few names to Bonnarroo.

I haven't attended the Fest for a couple of year, so this may no longer be the case. But Superfly is/was notorious for over selling their shows, so if you're going to one, just beware.

probably not...not only are they notorious for overselling but they are becoming notorious for saying there will be more shows announced and then coming out with nothing...so many other great night shows both weekends without having superfly come out with more (sorry, still a little bitter over the Vegoose debacle :)

Yeah, i agree plenty of shows to see without more superfly shows being added. An interesting SuperJam could be fun though.

Superflop has virtually given up on JazzFest as they have bigger fish to fry, Bonnarroo. Makes sense, logistically it would be tought to prep for Bonnarroo a month after Jazzfest. Plus so many of the bands would have to swing back to hit bonnarroo. It is disappointing, as NOLA is what made these guys.

I'm pretty happy with the superfly shows this year. Don't forget that the big venues (State Palace and Seanger) are not ready yet.

I had to laugh at that one, but ... I've been to some great Superfly shows in the past. They're hardly the only promoters who routinely oversell shows in a town where the Fire Marshall must be permanently on vacation (and/or a quite wealthy fella!)

I will prolly not return to CAC and that is the venue that Superfly seems to be primarily using (other than the Riverboat shows which are logistically too early for my liking) so they won't win much of my ticket dollar unless a) they use another venue or b) well, stop using CAC LOL

And Barb, that's not what I heard ;)

As you know, I am with you on the CAC. I'd love to see Mule & The Night Tripper show though. I got an email from Superfly stating that there was an auction going on for VIP tix, which includes a meet & greet, several drink tix, VIP seating etc. The only problem was that there was no link to the auction, and I can't find it anywhere on the web. I even emailed two different address at SF, but no response. So I'm thinking SubStandardFly....

Don't bother trying to email them...... They are much too good to communicate with the people that buy their tickets and attend their shows. I also love the way they are sponsered by Stubhub which seem to be nothing more than a scalping agency.

Sorry for the rant.. It just bums me out that they no longer seem to care about anything but the almighty dollar.

On a positive note, in less than one month from today I'm gonna be dancin' in New Orleans!:D

Typical Flyintheointment productions-website sends you to a stubhub page who is holding the auction-click to bid and all you can do is sell tix not buy them-so I guess they are waiting for people to put up tix before the auction happens
Getting my Fly swatter out to remove them from my favorites list.

Sadly you could apply this to Jazzfest in general with the way prices have gone up. I used to go everyday, but with the ticket increases and beer increases, we've had to scale it back. They've taken away any significant local advantages to buying tickets.

I'll only do one weekend this year unless I get some free tickets. With the way that ticket prices have gone up over 100 percent in seven years, they're pricing alot of locals out their market. I know that I'm one of them. A great deal of my friends don't go at all anymore, opting for French Quarter Fest, where admission is free and you can bring your own cooler. But I'm guessing that we aren't the targeted audience. Alas, that's way Economics it works. I just deal with it and make the most of one weekend.

Did I hear somewhere that the fest provides a significant number of tickets to underprivileged local kids?

Too bad there isn't some sort of discount for locals who could demonstrate New Orleans-area residency, or, maybe, for all Louisiana residents (then again, making things more complex, maybe residents of Katrina-affected areas in Mississippi could use a ticket-price break, too). This might cost the fest some dollars, but if the PR was handled properly, it could create an awful lot of residual goodwill, which would in turn translate into greater ticket sales, I'd speculate.
