Sorry if this has been covered before but I am new, my girlfriend and i are coming out for the festival and i was wondering what the difference between the tickets was, I understand that the Grand Marshall you get up close and I don't think you get any seating, but if you buy the big chief does that get your access to the grand marshall if you want to get up close or are you restricted in where you go?

Also do all the VIP tickets have access to VIP toilets?

I also read somewhere about some other VIP tickets through a radio station or something like that locally.

Sorry if this has been covered before and thanks in advance,

Lachie

BC & KofJ do not have access to the up-close VIP areas. You need a GM pass to get to those sections.

GM does not have VIP Toilets or private beverage sales.

Okay, the radio station is WWOZ and they sell a Brass Pass. The pass gives you in and out priveleges each day and access to a hospitality tent with fresh fruit, water and probably coffee. Clean portaloos. Seats. Fans. You'll also be supporting a fantastic radio station!

Info on the other tickets will likely be on Swag's website, which you should visit regularly for everything you might need or want to know about fest.

My understanding that all ticket areas are separate so I doubt that Big Chielf would get you into GM areas.... but check with Swag.

Cheers. Enjoy planning and have a great Fest!

So if someone was looking to buy the big chief, they would be better off buying the Grand Marshall + a Brass pass? that would be the better value option?

Therefore, up the front + access to clean toilets and somewhere to sit.

Thanks again.

I know this can all be complex. Buying a Brass Pass doesn't give you seats at a stage. There is a separate area near the grandstand where you can sit in a shaded area, enjoy refreshments, use the internet, and have access to the cleaner, nicer toilets. If you want seats at a stage, you would either need to buy the big chief or bring your own chairs and sit out with the masses. Grand Marshall is nice if you want to be close to the stage, and it also gives you the ability to travel back and forth between stages and still get good viewing. If you intend to camp out at a particular stage (and don't have any particular impairments), you might be best to buy a cheap camp chair when you get to N.O. and find a spot to call your own. There is an area near the larger stages where you cannot plant your chairs.

The WWOZ website is hard for me to understand. We are only going the 2nd weekend. Is getting a Brass Pass a waste for the first weekend? At the $450 price wouldn't we be better off getting the Krew pass and making a nice donation to WWOZ?

We have a baby and rented a house nearby so in-and-out is the key feature for us.

The 2nd weekend Krewe of Jazzfest pass is $500 + fees, so the brass pass is still a little cheaper. Best bet, though, would be to find a first weekender with whom to split the brass pass (and the cost).
