NoPoYo

So we have decided on going the second weekend this year. The funny thing is, I naively thought that when the lineup was released it would be easier to pick which weekend to attend but, it made it harder.
So besides that national acts, which local groups are must see's? I know Buckwheat Zydeco, Big Sam's Funky Nation, Cj Chenier, Rebirth, Big Chief Bo Dollis, and of Course Kermit. But who, in your opinion, is unmissable?
Two words: Midnight Disturbers.

Amen, Swag, amen!!
Kermit Ruffins & Big Sam are also lots of fun. Voices of the Wetlands All Stars are also fantastic. Anders Osborne, Ingrid Lucia, & any of the Mardi Gras Indians are always crowd pleasers.
If you're gonna be there for Thursday, try to catch my boys: Johnny Sketch & the Dirty Notes, they are super fun.

You really can't go wrong with any of the local music and there is always the added bonus that someone else may show up & sit in for a song or two!!

2nd weekend? Paul Sanchez and the Rolling Road Show on Saturday.
Two words: Midnight Disturbers.
Unfortunately for NoPoYo, the Midnite Disturbers play first weekend.
I agree about Johnny Sketch and Paul Sanchez.
I'd add Alex McMurray, Kirk Joseph's Backyard Groove, Bonerama and in general any act playing the Jazz & Heritage Stage.

Just reading back through this thread and seeing midnight disturbers and big sam together made me think back to a very wet day at the fairgrounds and the disturbers were taking the jazz and heritage stage. Mark Mullins, Shamarr and others were soaked to the bone. suddenly this tall tube of tarp appears onstage and out dances big sam, totally dry and grinning and funkin. :D

Wow, you'd trade Jon Bon Jovi? if you have to, you can always visit the Sacred Shrine of Jon Bon Jovi near the festival. The info is here: http://sacredshrinejonbonjovinola.blogspot.com/
