My friend asked today for information on volunteering to help with recovery. Her son is teaching english in Hong Kong for two years(he's already been there one) and he wants to write a grant to bring 50 students and teachers to New Orleans in November to do volunteer work. I sent the festaid link to her and was wondering if yall had any other ideas. Since they are students and teachers, I was wondering what info you have on volunteering in the schools, MRG?

Tulane's CACTUS (community action council of tulane university students) program might be worth a try. It looks like they have programs and projects.

I have yet to any work with the schools down there, FJ. I believe papafrog has done some volunteer work from what I remember being told. I would think that they would welcome the volunteers with open arms for sure.
Here is the link to the DOE for LA.

I would also think that Acorn would be a great place to start

And Senator Mary Landrieu's website has a volunteer database that might be very helpful to your friend.
