The Open-Toed Shoe Pledge
As a member of the Threadhead Sisterhood, I pledge to follow the Rules when wearing sandals and other open-toe shoes:
I promise to always wear sandals that fit. My toes will not hang over and touch the ground, nor will my heels spill over the backs. And the sides and tops of my feet will not pudge out between the straps.
I will go polish-free or vow to keep the polish fresh, intact and chip-free.
I will not cheat and just touch up my big toe.
I will sand down any mounds of skin before they turn hard and yellow.
I will shave the hairs off my big toe.
I won't wear pantyhose even if my misinformed girlfriend, coworker, mother, sister tells me the toe seam really will stay under my toes if I tuck it there.
If a strap breaks, I won't duct-tape, pin, glue or tuck it back into place hoping it will stay put. I will get my shoe fixed or toss it.
I will not live in corn denial; rather I will lean on my good friend Dr. Scholl's if my feet need him.
I will resist the urge to buy jelly shoes at Payless for the low, low price of $4.99 even if my feet are small enough to fit into the kids' sizes. This is out of concern for my safety, and the safety of others. No one can walk properly when standing in a pool of sweat and I would hate to take someone down with me as I fall and break my ankle.
I will take my toe ring off toward the end of the day if my toes swell and begin to look like Vienna sausages.
I will be brutally honest with my girlfriend/sister/coworker when she asks me if her feet are too ugly to wear sandals. Someone has to tell her that her toes are as long as my fingers and no sandal makes creepy feet look good.
I will promise if I wear flip flops that I will ensure that they actually flip and flop, making the correct noise while walking and I will swear NOT to slide or drag my feet while wearing them.
I will promise to go to my local nail salon at least once per season and have a real pedicure (they are about $15 or $20 and worth EVERY penny).
I will promise to throw away any white/off-white sandals that show signs of wear... nothing is tackier than dirty white sandals.

Get that Jergens glow moisturizer. My skin gets whiter than copy paper in the winter and that stuff at least covers up the blueness of my veins.

Very nice advice, but kinda like telling women we can't wear a sleveless shirt if our arms are old & starting to grow wings. Sorry, I do the best I can to pedicure & groom my old & injured toes. But I'm not letting old ugly toes or missing toenails prevent my feet from being happy & dancing in comfortable sandals. If you don't like my toes, don' look at em.
Or maybe I should just stick with the ruby slippers.

No worries, mate! I guess I should have posted that this was meant in humor and in no way should this be taken seriously. lol, I figured the lovely picture was a dead giveaway. Let those feet frolic and be happy, Glinda!

lmao, too funny, Belle! My ex-boss from New Orleans sent it to me.
Hey, I'm only 40 and I got some action going on with the arms, too, lol. As far as the tan feet go, I haven't started working on my tan at all yet! I need to start doing it soon, though. I only have four weekends left.
I promise to follow all the rules, but no matter what ya do, you will probably end up with "Walmart" feet at the end of the day at Fest. Nasty old, dirty, gritty feet.

If mine don't have painting or imbellishments on them I so what most sane women do, paint over the big ones and the one next to it if it needs it, not enough time to do the whole pedicure all the time. We are busy ladies you know but the tootsies need to look good!!!

That was a GREAT pledge and I happily take it!! Especially pledge item 1 - it drives me crazy when I see chicks' feet exploding out of/over their sandals . . . ick, if you can't get shoes that fit, don't get 'em! (Yes, no matter how much on sale they are)
I do get regular pedis, it's the one real pampering thing I do for me and it's important - no matter how busy . . . gotsta have my tootsies done! Thus, I got the same foot fetish result as Tchipchipitoulas ;)
Now, the manicure is a WHOLE other kettle of fish - I'll screw that up leaving the salon, I'm hopeless with that. I used to do that when I had nail tips - but then it was really worth the hassle . . .

So tonight I am having a delightfully, drunken dinner with my darling husband and a dear friend, and the conversation turns to shoes. My husband just casually mentions that a picture of my foot is on the board! Lord knows I need to check this thing more often!
Had to LOL at the whole thread. Yes, I take the pledge, though a day at Fest defies anyone to have clean feet.
The shoes in that picture are legendary. I am an avowed fan of comfort, Naots, sneakers, flip flops! All my friends know this. These are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought and I agonized over them. They are Giuseppe Zanotti (and I had no idea who he was but my "shoe crazy" friends did) and they are amazing. I bought them for a specific outfit but they actually work with a ton of things! My girlfriend told me I just needed to think of them as jewelry for my feet. It was such a change for me that we had to take a picture of them and email it to my friends!!
I think a picture of his feet while he is sleeping may have to show up....

Practical suggestion: bring moleskin to NOLA and put some in your fest backpack. It works wonders for blisters and various and sundry foot woes! (I first discovered it after developing a blister on the BALL of my foot after my first long hot day of walking around Disneyworld. It literally saved my trip from being ruined!)
