I've made a reservation for trip in Nov the 3rd -10th
Rate is a little pricey $179, but it looks like it's worth it.
Any opinions on this place?

Haven't stayed there, but the Historic French Market Inn is available for $91 a night. It's down near the river, 2 blocks from Jackson Square, 3 or 4 from House of Blues. I've stayed there many times and loved it. It's NOT a suite hotel, but they do give you a couple of drinks next door during happy hour.

Hitoric French Market is a dump. EWwww. (but of course, if i needed to, i would certainly book a room there!) I used to stay at the IB Suites all of the time. it was great...there was a time, though, that they were slipping a bit....rooms not as clean, stopped having a killer free breakfast (i mean a TRUE buffet)...we liked it because it was 2 rooms, so me and my GF could have our own rooms if we wanted.

OK then. also heard from somebody else that said it's not worth that price.
So any suggestions? Want to be that end of the Quarter or CDB. I'm going on a Habitat for Humanity Build for two days with NAR, then our convention in the Morial Center and sticking around until the following Wednesday. I may just roll the dice with Priceline or Hotwire. Where's the LaSalle when I need it?
Plenty of plans for nightlife and also hope to see Jen, David and others.
I also hear they are starting to film the next season on Treme that week. So maybe I can get a cameo. LOL

If you feed those dates into Hotwire, you'll see a 3* FQ hotel for $79/night with the icons for fitness center/laundry/restaurant/pool/internet. That is most almost certainly* the Holiday Inn French Quarter, on Royal in between Canal & Iberville. I stayed there during Satchmo, and they have brand new carpeting and wallpaper. It was a big upgrade; the price is right, and it's in the location you seek.

*I've bought that property with that description many times, and it's always been HIFQ. But it is Hotwire, so there's no guarantees

Well, if you miss the LaSalle, then the French Market Inn might be up your alley.

Hotwire (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=fBw9gX*E07s&offerid=24474.10000017&type=3&subid=0) has a 4* Downtown for your dates for about $79/nt. Likely the Intercontinental, but possibly the Sheraton. Either should meet your needs.

I don't see how you could go wrong doing name your own price with Priceline and sticking with 4-star properties in the FQ, Downtown or Convention Center - Warehouse/Arts zones. You have pretty much the ideal situation to use it, and I'd be surprised if you didn't land something perfectly fine or better for $60/night.

In case you've never done the "add non-4-star zone" bidding strategy, check it out betterbidding.com.

I've become a total believer in it and have used it several times now, and it has worked perfectly each time.

We stayed there last October for Voodoo. Very nice, clean and spacious suites. Excellent location as well. Shares a lobby with the Ritz-Carlton so you had to be careful which set of elevators you use to access the Iberville section. Not a problem in the day time but following a long night of merriment...

I used Easyclick travel and got it at $110/night.

In case you're not comfortable with the opaque travel sites, Easyclick is showing some very reasonable and less expensive options for those dates.

We stayed at the IB last year for JF and really enjoyed it . Like Linza said the breakfast is an added perk. The 2 rooms were clean and up to date.

Booked the Bienville House for just under $100. Know people that stayed there before and it fits the bill.
Thanks for all the input.
Now who's in town that week?

I'll be there, amigo! It looks like my gal and I are staying at the Avenue Plaza on St. Charles from the 5th to the 12th. The Swamp Fest is on at Audabon Zoo, and the Mirliton Fest is on as well...we gotta connect!

Absolutely, I may get a chance to go to the LSU-'Bama game on Saturday.
Otherwise, the Mirliton is my plan. Of course, I may actually have to go to the convention for an hour or two. ;-))

Linza -

Thanks for the update on the Historic French Market Inn. I stayed there 3 years in a row for JF, but haven't been there since Katrina. Pre-hurricane I thought it was wonderful, quaint, quiet (the only thing that woke me up were the calliopes on the boats) and perfectly situated. But owners change and so do conditions! I appreciate knowing that it's now a dump so I won't send friends there!

We have it worked out. I treat her to the JW Marriott and the Roosevelt, and she treats me to a tent in the woods, and sometimes even a sleeping bag.

OK I'm sorry! I didn't think it would get so cold in July (I didn't bring him a bag...I was snuggly in my mummy north face bag....)....

aren't you supposed to be enjoying those hot nuts and hot towels in first class right now? no flight attendant to flirt with!?

I stayed there for a night (I decided to change my flight home and spend an extra day in N.O.) a few years back, and while the room was very small, the hotel itself was fine, and the location is perfect.

The place is supposedly haunted, but they offer a couple of free drink coupons at Marie Leveau's Voodoo Bar (right on Decatur) to make up for any possible ghost-related incidents.

Be sure to NOT get a room near the doors & hallway the lead to said bar if you plan on sleeping. I might have welcomed awakenings from ghosts, but was annoyed by human voices & door shutting in the wee hours.
Other than that, great hotel.
