Thanks! Would it be too late to book a hotel and airfare at that point? Because of vacation time, I think it would only be possible to go for one weekend-- and can't decide which one.

No, there are many out there (like myself) who only attend one of the two weekends and so wait until the line-up is announced before getting flights or hotels.........

That said, because the second weekend includes a Fest thursday (always the least crowded day of Jazzfest) I have chosen the second week (usually fly down tuesday, fly home next tuesday or wednesday) 12 out of the past 14 years.

The first week's line-up would have to be a monster in comparison to second week for me to change up my routine.

Flying home while Fest is still rolling was one of the hardest things I have ever done; for me it's much better to pretend the whole thing dosent actually get bumping until my plane lands.

(I also drink a LOT waiting around for first weekend to wrap up, and try not to read the board)

Whatever weekend you pick,there will be some amazing music that you will miss on the other weekend.But the Jazzfest expierience is so much more than the couple of acts that you might miss. You can't go wrong with either weekend.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I believe that I will make it for the second weekend-- I'd like to book my flight and hotel this week. Are the dates for the fest confirmed?

I'm a second weekend person myself. 4 of the last 5. I think part of it is just because I can't imagine spending a weekend there, and then being back home, realizing there's another 4 days going on that I can't be at. It would just be too sad. So once I'm down there the 2nd, I just know to savor every moment because when it's over, that'll be it for another year.

One year, many years from now, when I can afford it $ and time wise, I'll do both weekend, of course! :D

If you only do one weekend, you should think about booking to catch the 'tween daze. There's almost as much going on in the week between as there is on the weekends ;)

I don't know how anyone can do just one weekend. It drives me crazy if I can't make it. The only reason I can't make it is if I have a sick family member. Money is only an issue if God didn't give you a credit card!! lol.
