Well it seems that even a pair of wonky feet can't keep me away from the Fest! I'm going to be there for the second weekend, arriving on the 4th and leaving on the following Wednesday.
I'm obviously going to miss the Instruments a Comin, the Patry, Ingrids and much more....but 'tis better to have Fested a little than to not have Fested at all, right? I'm flying solo, and I'll be landing at around 11:30 on Friday am, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for the big Ross Vegas float as it snakes its way through the crowds on the second Friday...
See y'all there!

I rented a scooter from scootaround when we were in San Francisco and I would not have been able to do the winery tour or the boat trip without it. They delivered it to my hotel within 4hrs of me calling & then picked it up from the concierge after I left and was surprisingly affordable. I highly recommend them.

that's good to know! I'll just be out of my camboot (hopefully) the week before JF and not sure how I'll hold up with the foot thing. Right now my foot looks like a cabbage patch doll foot. No crutches but using a cane and not really walking much at all. The doc told me that it takes 8 weeks for a bone to heal, so I'm cutting it pretty close.

as we age and the parts start going, the fest will have many many scooters.
problem is if it gets m*ddy its hard to navigate anything but the paved tracks. i'd hate to loose green space, but they may have to make more paths for us. Tom had a broken foot one year and rented a scooter for fest - there was a really wet day and he just stayed 'home' that day. hoping for blue skies this year.

does the flag alrady have grommett holes? you can use those plastic slip ties on the flag, and duck tape on the pole to keep the ties from slipping. or baby bungee cords.
aint much you can't solve with slip ties, duck tape, and bungees.

Thanx for all the love and support, folks!
I'm pretty sure that my feets are going to hold up just fine..I'll just have to amend my "boppin and bouncin on my toes" dance technique. Perhaps I'll adopt a little of the Beetle Bob "tappin on the typewriter' routine...uh, then again, maybe not.
I'm pleased to say that a good pair of well-fitted Adidas runners with a pair of Birkenstock inserts has pretty much healed me this year. The inserts are amazing for those who have plantar fasciitis!
As for the scooters, I'm amazed that someone hasn't seized the (soon to explode) market for high end transporters. I'm talking about something that has ALL the bells and whistles - GPS, wireless internet, you name it. I figure that all these baby boomers are tooling around town in the their Lexus and Escalades, but when it comes to scooters they are pretty much left with the basics. Perhaps the Teutels at OCC can come up with something slick? Hey, a high end scooter (complete with matching SUV) could be the saving grace of GM or Ford.
Anyone out there own a car company??? (Hmmm. Wonder if I can get me an Acura scooter at the fest?)

That's one of my all-time favourite memories, Bill! Every year Big Dave and I seek out the kids and plunk 10 bucks in their ice cream pail...on condition that they let us play with them. Dave and I always packed extra drim sticks in our knapsacks to give to them.
Sadly, that was one of the things I noticed that was 'different' about last year's fest. All of those kids were gone. I sure hope they are back this year, along with a lot of the missing peeps in the Gospel tent. It just ain't the same without them, you know?

I can't believe it also. Booked plane tickets yesterday with Aeroplan airmiles leaving 04/25, landing early like 10:30 a.m. and returning 04/30. I'll take the 5 nights. Hope like heck that we get to meet up. Bringing a virgin with me as well. You can help break him in! (Can I watch...) Might go down to Paradis for a fanboat ride that day. No sure yet. I'm just sooo stoked right now. One day I'm lamenting about not going, and now I have to get use to the fact that I am! (Still hasn't sunk in yet.)
wahoooo that's just AWESOME!!!! I can't wait to see you. You better come by Ms. Lena's for a beer first Friday morning. I'm working that shift and I expect to see you for a giant Canajun hug mister!!!

How can I not be at Ms Lena's Fri a.m. after an offer like that!! LOL. I'll be there. What are you up to the Wednesday and Thursday? I will be meeting up with friends from San Diego in Wednesday late afternon, early evening at Pat O's. ( They don't know I'm coming). Unless I end up in Paradis. Also, will be meeting other Canajuns (my brother-in-law, Wild Bill) coming in on the Thursday, same time, same place. (It's been a tradition since 1991.)

Hey Ross, what time do you get to Orlando Saturday? I'm 1-1/2 hours away in St. Pete. I'm not going to be able to make it over there but consider renting a car and heading this way for some music if you can get away. Saturday afternoon is the Dali Fest. Six bands, food and drink outside the Dali Museum, on the water.

Email sent. I've been on that drive (weekdays) when it seemed offroading would be quicker. Sadly, I read in the paper this morning that a Florida Panther got hit on I-4 near Disney. I was in southwest Florida in prime panther country a couple of weeks ago. There were slow speed zones, multi-million dollar panther crossings (fences to funnel them under new overpasses), and reminder signs that said "30 Remaining." I guess somebody has to change the sign to 29:(

I got to give the guy some credit. When I heard he was replacing Luongo, I thought this can't be good. South Florida isn't exactly the ideal environment for somebody shaking off a demon or two. Other than that incident in Long Island last Fall, ol' Eddie has managed to stay out of rehab and the news. In 53 games he's 24-17-8 with a 2.80 goals against and a save % of .901. Not too shabby for an an old burned out goalie. Speaking of old, burned out goalies, when are you coming to Atlanta?

No JazzFest for us this year. We were considering Festival International in Lafayette with a stop off at JF on 1st Sunday but work made that plan unworkable. Part of the problem is all our local connections are gone and we haven't had to stay in a hotel in for so long we got spoiled
