They are playing at fest right this very minute. It was WAAAAY too crowded and muddy for me to stay at Acura stage to see them. I spent the majority of the day at the Gentilly stage so I didn't get there in time to stake out a space. Great times with threadheads at JazzFest so far, more tonight, Monday, Tuesday and the following Monday!!!

For what it's worth, when they played New Zealand last year they had a seven-piece band with them, though I didn't see them at Jazz Fest so I don't know if they have the same setup.

The tour seems to be on indefinite "hold" (see thread on the main forum), with many dates already rescheduled due to AG's vocal issues.

Since this is the "everything you wanted to know" forum, I want to know what people think the final crowd numbers for this past Saturday will be. I heard that other stages/tents were less crowded than usual for the closing sets (i.e., I have seen Tab Benoit's closing set spill out of the tent, but was told that there were empty chairs there Saturday)... was anyone wandering around and can venture a guess? How crowded was MMJ? In my (very tall and able to see clearly above the crowd) opinion, S&G was as crowded as any Acura stage act I have seen since DMB in 2001 (the infamous 160K day). It was solid - and I mean, solid - all the way back to the track at the back, and that hardly ever happens. But were most people at that stage and few at others?

On a normal day (nice weather, no mud, etc.), a crowd like S&G had at Acura would have suggested well over 100,000 people in attendance. But I don't think it seemed that crowded earlier in the day, walking around. I suspect that the high majority of people there actually went to S&G.
