I've been wrong many, many times before but I think revisiting nixon of boob fame and Lenny of website fame are not good peeps-trolls, spammers,, hackers, spies, ?. Why would nixon post the same thread yet again? Maybe if we click on his links, we get spied on, or something. Thoughts?

If that's what you're thinkin' report 'em to the board administrators by clicking on the triangle warning sign that appears in the upper right hand corner next to the number of the post (not their number of postings - but the post number within the thread). For instance - the triangle next the the # 1 in your post at the top of this thread.
does that make any sense?
The board administrators will make a call on it and do what they think is the right thing.

Now KK I have wondered that myself. 5 posts with the same links, hmmm . . . Most spam is pretty obvious though, my take would be benefit of the doubt and see if anything else is posted . . .

BUT I still think the rest of the posts were funny and entertaining, in the goofy spirit that we love on this board :)

I guess maybe I don't who "we" are then that are so goofy? Or maybe I'm out the club now because I dared to take stand on the side of civility? "We"...let me shift to the first person...I think that insider chic...the type that when it get rolling it tries to shout down a dissenting opinion under the guise of claiming censorship can get quite ugly. And all in defense of some troll's euphemistic version of "Show us your tits"? (Or is "tits" less acceptable that "boobs"? )
So can someone please start a "Can you whip out your unit at Jazz Fest" thread so some of our other trolls get equal time or a least a little rise?
Amy...I respect you and many people here very much. Having a whole volume of "Threadheads Gone Wild" devoted to the lot of you won't change that. (Still don't think it needs to be advertised in this, the main forum just in time for Jazz Fest.)
But I will not avert my vision, or stay off a thread, or avoid reading single a byte anywhere on the internet just because a bunch of "goofs" think thats the way to solve my problem...er... deal with unpopular opinion.

just as an fyi, if you don't already know, that b00bs has been a playful topic of discussion on this bored and the old one looooong before mr.nixon showed up, Mich. I considered myself fairly new to this group-card carrying member (oh can I say member?) since Dec of aught-five and b00bs was being mentioned then.

Ok...I am for ...
Your right to speak about anything you want...
My right to speak about anything I want to...
This site's administrators' right to decide that either of us or both of us don't have the unqualified right to do it here.
And I believe that this site needs one more forum that is geared towards the off-topic bar, fun, fraternizing threads that are traditionally a part of well run forums everywhere. If this was a fan site only...say the board at swagland...then I probably wouldn't even have spoke up. But because it IS attached to the Festival itself...and has become the main board...I'd like to see more of this one forum devoted to sharing of all things Jazz fest with newcomers and old timers and threadheads. I won't pout if I don't get my way.
I have expressed this enough times recently that if I continue, I might be picked up as a spamming troll myself.

It is what used to be called a pedal steel guitar..but is also now referred to as a "sacred steel" because of it association with services within "The House of God" Church. Robert's music has part of its roots in this church's tradition.

Well, you just had to know that anyone with a handle of Revisiting Nixon was just aiming to cause trouble in our peaceful (mostly) little Jazzfest land. ;)
Mich - you are a very civil and polite gentleman, which I admire, however as a grown woman who possesses them - I have no problem joking, joshing, discussing b00bs, tits, hooters, chi-chis, the girls, winnebagos, (whatever one wants to call them). Most of life is just too damn serious and sacred as it is, we should at least be able to laugh about these things. However, I will admit I have a viewpoint on this that maybe not everyone can share - perhaps it's too many years spent in comedy clubs as the manager's wife . . .
I definitely can understand that some wouldn't enjoy such a thread and as our sweet Miss Vina says - then they shouldn't partake in that kind of thread. However, I would NEVER shoot down or discourage any dissenting opinions on this Bored - yours (they are so nicely written) or anyone else's, even if my opinion may be different - that's what makes adult life and conversation interesting, diverse and invigorating.
Keep on keeping things 'round here lively, Michelino - it wouldn't be the same without you! :D

Mich, you're just as goofy as the rest of us (Mr. Crab Man) :) You just have different topics of goofiness that you enjoy. It's all good and you know I love ya!!
I don't know if you were on the board much in the zydbebabes days but you'd have been beyond appalled I think! What we get now is a G rated version of those days. And there was only one forum, thread drift and going off topic is ingrained.
Don't know if you noticed these threads, but there have also been complaints from "old timers" who don't think the board is bawdy enough anymore! Ya just can't please all the people all the time.
There will always be plenty of people who love and hate certain threads (politics too of course). Which threads I (in the minority) happened to enjoy.
I just get a chuckle out of talking about boobs. And crabs ;)

Now wait guys...I'm no prude...When I take a romantic stroll down Bourbon (or was that Amsterdam?) with my lady on my arm and one of the barkers says "C'mon in man...live f*ckin on stage...man" well, anyway I just chuckle and keep strollin.
(But I am old fashioned (and Sicilian), so if the barker is a he and he were to ask my lady in front of me to show him her...hell even it's only her nose hair....I guess I'd have to admit the man would be given three choices: Apologize, Hide, or wear dentures for the rest of his life.)
But it really wasn't about the boobs. I actually am able to tell the difference between degrading troll speak and good natured titty talk...It is just a gift I have that cannot be explained. The now deleted thread that started this had an evil smell that stunk up this place from post#1 . I'm glad its gone. I reported it early on and like every single post that I've reported (maybe 5) since this board started...it was deleted eventually. The "don't read it" if you don't like it line..is, in fact, a not so subtle suggestion to censor oneself (As a fan of all things absurd I must point that out.) I see it rather as analogous to walking out onto my street and finding garbage...guess I could walk away and ignore it...more likely I will toss it I can...find someone to do it for me if I can't.

With all due respect (and I do have true respect for you and your views), I would have to disagree with the above . . . "don't read/watch/listen to it, if you don't like it" isn't advocating self-censorship (a very interesting concept). In this country often what happens when someone encounters something (book, play, movie, art, song, etc.) is they demand/encourage/cajol/threaten that it should be done away with (not that you're doing that, I want to emphasize) . . .
Now in the case of punk arse spammers, I agree that their trash absolutely should be disposed of and I applaud you for catching on to that before I did (I didn't bother to click on his links) - however, if there are other thread discussions that someone doesn't agree with or enjoy (me or anyone else) - I don't view not reading or participating in them as self-censorship, just common sense.
For instance, I personally don't partake in American Idol; yet, many, many of my beloved/respected Threadhead friends here really love it and have dedicated a thread to discussing it . . . I don't read or participate in that thread as the AI thang isn't my bag, baby - and that's okay, I still love them! :D
So, I guess what I'm saying is yes, if it's true "garbage" - toss it out, if it's just something that doesn't pluck your chicken, leave it to the folks who have that floating their boats.
Okay, I'll step down of my soapbox now - I was just trying to invigorate the debate and I guess I took it somewhat personally that you seem to think I'm trying to advocate for any sort of censorship, which I fervently do not believe in.

As for the the deleted threads: I found them boring, but not offensive. I would caution against moderation; another slippery slope, imo. On one hand I love the mix of the good ol' posters mixed with the energetic and refreshing new posters. On the other hand I miss the bawdiness of the old board. Say what you will about this board being representative of the fest, but I can't see more than a tiny fraction of ticket buyers ever spending any time here at all.
If this board becomes fully controlled by a sense of political correctness, I will spend more time elsewhere. We are talking about New Orleans here, not Disneyland.

There is a group of folks on this board who chit chat here all year long; about anything & everything. (It's hard to keep up a conversation about Fest in July, ya know?) We eagerly await the excitement of the new folks and the returning of old friends, but in the dark, coldness of winter we talk about everything here.

Sweet Corona, that isn't completely how I remember it. I remember you expressing your sorrow and disgust with a plea for it to stop, occasionally right on one of those hurtful threads. And at least one comment that maybe the site was becoming a place you didn't want to visit anymore. If that wasn't a request for a new direction, then why did you bother? In fact, there was plenty of protest a the time. Complaint about speech is free speech all in itself. All of which had an effect on me at least, I quit joining the political fights, as much as I like to argue over politics, because I felt that all I was doing was contributing to the bad kharma here.
Some of those political threads were threadjacked...which is in itself a form of guerrilla moderation and can be looked upon as an attempt to censor the original topic. Of course, if you think that's cool, then it's OK. But I don't understand why when a group of people choose, instead of ignoring a thread, to take it over and change the direction a topic...often just because they don't like it...why isn't the censorship bogeyman brought up?
Enough already, I'm off to the new breast thread to prove that I'm ready to offer my ..uh...support.

i don't think threads are intentionally 'hi-jacked'. its just ADHD/drift/brainstorming. sometimes the new subject line adds new life to a thread. and usually if interested in the new topic lasts, it gets its own thread.
i cannot think of a subject that does not affect or is not affected by jazz fest.

You do raise a good point though. I don't recall specifics, but the majority of people did ask that the politics thread be stopped, it was bumped off, it was hijacked, people said they would leave the board if it continued, etc. I in the minority disagreed and did not stop posting. I don't think anyone should have to stop posting about Bush or Boobs. Do whatcha wanna!
The "report" botton is a fabulous function of this new board, but, as it notes, obviously to be used sparingly. I do believe that the Nixon posts were spam. Out of 13 posts, 11 had the links. While they were personalized, there was no attempt to engage or otherwise participate in the board. Maybe the guy gets paid each time the page is clicked or something!
The other obvious uses for the button are racist remarks or threats (I think the very existence of the button has prevented that), out and out porn (there have been hard core pix on the general music forum!) It's really no different than free speech paradigms in general in my opinion, there is speech that is not protected in a public forum because it is obscene, spam, fighting words, etc. While politics or boobs may not be everyone's cup of tea, they don't rise to the level of the type of speech that should be "banned."
This whole discussion reminds me of the ETG Adams poster (he was a real poster, right, who was subsequently trolled? Or was he a spoof from the beginning?) He came on talking about getting chicks, etc., complete frat boy persona (yes, just like 12 year olds talking about boobs). So what? It was funny and turned out to be one of the classic "characters" of the board. I find nutria bustiers a tad boring, so I just skim those threads. But to each their own!
Oh hell, I do have to admit to my own hypocricy now too though. That damn Wookie drove me crazy and I know I did beg that he go away. Yep, we've all got certain things that get under our skin. Alanis: "I am the biggest hypocrit, been undeniably jealous, I have been loud and pretentious, I have been utterly threatened." We're all just human after all.

I realized I was wrong though, and simply avoided those threads from then on. As far as hijacking goes, I doubt this happens with forethought, at least on my part. Doesn't make it right though. I agree with Ohio..and with Michelino in some ways..I did protest the politics thread because of the way some people (not everyone) treated each other but like Ohio, I realized that I just needed to suck it up and stay the hell away from that thread. I have also got upset when people have been attacked, including myself....I've also shot my mouth off a few times too. The trolls were too much sometimes and when posters started to turn on each other, I kinda freaked out and thought about leaving. But I didn't because there is so much good about this board and the people who post here. I'm learning to let more stuff go but again, I'm human, and do lose it sometimes. I'm definitely not perfect and know I likely contradict myself at times, depending on the mood I'm in. I apologize for that. So let's "hug it out bitch" (Entourage) and have some fun :) Thanks Mich...btw, I'm italian too!

Crab Meat Po-boy:
Mix in a gentle manner:
2 cups fresh blue crab meat, with claw meat (this is important).
4 tablespoons mayo, no Blue Plate please.
2 tablespoons cajun mustard
1 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Lightly toast a french loaf in a very hot oven. Split the loaf and slather it in more mayo. Put on the crab mix, dress with lettuce, pickles, tomato, and maybe some red onion slices. Mmmmm.

Here's the Halliburton sandwich, which I ate many of in the late night oil fields of Louisiana and Mississippi:
2 slices of white bread
1 thick slice of bologna
1 slice of american cheeze (not cheese)
slather bread in Blate Sammich spread, which makes it edible

Further, I once dated a girl that liked mayonnaise, and she actually thought Celine Dion could sing. Not much of a mayo fan either, but girl you gotta have white vinegar handy at ALL times. Not only is it the bomb on crab straight from the pot (with some cracked pepper), but it's the only thing that will easily take off those pesky water drop marks that won't budge from your clear glass shower screen! And how would you keep your poached eggs from running without a few drops of the liquid gold in the water? Not to mention if you get stung by a jelly fish or stinger, it's the best way to quickly ease the pain.
Never heard of or tasted Blue Plate, but white vinegar... it's the McGyver of foodstuff and I'm gonna add it to my fest backpack list right now!

Talk about your commies. I catching a subtext here that makes me suspicious as to what's really going on.
First they go after the crab...next the mayonnaise.
What's next? The Bread ?
Obviously the target is the concept of the "Po Boy" itself.
Yeah...the hot sausage is too "hot"...the debris is too old...the ham is too black....the mustard too strong. And my god..some places like Mothers use cabbage instead of lettuce. And by the way, Remoulade is nothin but fancy mayonnaise...maybe we need to have issues with that as well.
Now I had my share of subs, grinders, hoagies, cheese-steaks, lobster (Hey Reds!) , clam and scallop (!!) rolls. Plus quite a few Ground Round on hard roll, fried egg on a hard roll, Italian Sausage with pepper and onions, beef on weck, White Hot with everything, Gold Coast Dog, Coneys, Pastrami on Rye (Carnegie Deli), Bagel with a schmear and smoked Salmon (Stage Deli), Turkey Club, Tuna Melts, Monte Cristo, The Sun Club (in Lancaster PA: cold roast pork club with fried eggs, lettuce, mayo and pickles), Barbecue (Memphis), Arthur Bryants Barbecue, Barbecue Mutton (in Owensboro KY) , Fried Bologna, Mortadella on bread torn from a fresh baked loaf, Sopressata on Roll, Grilled Cheese, Ham & Swiss and plain old peanut butter & pinapple jelly sandwhich.
But still the many variations of New Orleans Po Boys remain in a class by themselves. (Once you include the Muffaletta and Oyster Loaf...you basically have sandwich heaven down there) Maybe because it often comes dressed, we're getting some mayonnaise backlash here. But in the name of all the good eatin in Nola, go pick on ketchup or salsa and leave the freakin po boy alone along with its mayonnaise. (And don't think you can diss the pickle either)

Little known fact outside of Mexico and England,.. English mayonaise was a huge favorite throughout Mexico before WWII,... they used to ship it non-stop across the big pond,.. small ship after ship loaded with freshest of English mayonaise,... until that fateful day in early May when the biggest tanker to date,.. filled to the brim with extra luscious Engish mayo was hit and sunk by a German torpedo.... That day is forever remembered since as Cinco de Mayo...........

You really don't need anything else . . .

Let 'splain something. Mayonnaise is evil. My mother made me eat it when I was a kid, and that's why, even to this day, I can't dance. Further, I once dated a girl that liked mayonnaise, and she actually thought Celine Dion could sing. If you don't believe me, I can show you the actual sandwich wrapper she used, with the mayonnaise smears still on it. What more proof do you need?
Bunk! I have eaten mayo mah whole life and not only can I dance any man's cute tushy off, but I can't stands Celine Dion!!! :p ;)

I thought so. Those who dream of world domination eventually ALWAYS get this brazen and start bragging about their plans for conquest.
I'm even beginning to think your loyalty is really more about the precooked Monica than it is the Crawfish.
C'mon, admit it....the blueprint says once there is only one menu left, out goes the mudbugs and in comes the FAKE crab.
The horror..

Funny guy, you are, moo moo.

Phew!!
Here's somebody I found on the Internets who does Reiki in LA (http://www.byregion.net/profiles/healingroom.html)
I can also ask my Reiki contacts here if they know of anyone and if those don't work, I could arrange for some distance healing which is one of the great benefits of Reiki. Lastly, I should have my second Reiki attunement by Fest and I would be able to give you some Reiki, if you like.
Here are some others I found online:
Rev. Oliver Coleman 504 352-5896 New Orleans Caldwell Alternative Consulting llc http://www.bishopcoleman.ws (http://www.bishopcoleman.ws/) Carolyn Ann Wainright 504-858-5476 Metairie
Here's a good article on how to find a Reiki practioner if the above doesn't meet your needs:

Wow thanks ZKitty....I'm going to look in to it. There is someone in the Point that might know about this who I'll ask when I get back from my show this weekend. If there's time, I might just take you up on your offer:D I was going to start massage therapy again, but this might be another way to go.

No gumbo's just an uneducated yankee boy from Bah-ston (yes it's mayo).....can't say the same for Mr Bream who is a southern boy disrespecting the king of all mayos. Gawd. Tell your mama to smack you breambob!
Well if it is the king of all mayos then I must have had it in my travels but I will be sure to sample it when I am in town-as far as mayo goes I like Hellman's primarily-Hate the Miracle Whip-but mayo of any kind is good in my book.

I'm wit chu, my fellow Bostonian - love the Hellmann's/Best Foods or any "real" mayo (which does not include Miracle Whip - the miracle is that anyone eats that crap) . . . :D

Coolio, I hope you're able to find somthing that will help you naturally and if not - I'm more than happy to give you whatever help I can!!!
Reiki is actually a GREAT accompaniment to massage - after I finish the Reiki, I'm going to look into beginning massage therapy classes to eventually be able to offer both modalities as potential therapies for folks. :)
