Wondering if anyone has tips on music shops, pawn shops, vintage instrument shops, so on, in NOLA. Looking to avoid taking my horn down there when I go, buy one to use while in town and then donate to a school or worthy cause upon departure. Just a thought I had, JUST NOW! Dam brain IS wurkin' after all.

A few years back, my husband and I took his nephew to New Orleans Music Exchange (corner of Magazine & Louisiana) when he was considering purchasing either a trumpet or a saxophone. He didn't end up buying one at that time but the employees were very helpful and took a lot of time with us.

Maybe someone else (NOLA musicians) can chime in with more firsthand knowledge...

How about donating your instrument to the Threadheads' own Fest4Kidz (weekly music clinics in the Bywater)?http://threadheads.org/F4K.htm
