From NYT today:
Another French Quarter
Two months after hurricaine Katrina, the French culture minister , Renaud de Vabres, visited New Orleans and proclaimed his country's solidarity with the beleagured city by offering to organize an exhibition of art from the Louve, the Musee d'Orsay and other French museums. Promise fulfilled. "Femme, Femme, Femme: Paintings of Women in French Society from Daumier to Picasso," with nearly 100 works, is now at the New Orleans Museum of Art through June 3.

Sounds like it might be a cool exhibit to check out. Has anyone vsited the exhibit yet?

The exhibit wasn't open when we were there in January - it just opened last week, I think. At any rate, since it is a stone's throw from the fairgrounds and is open 10-4:30 Wednesday through Sunday you can stop in before you wander over to the fairgrounds and support another cultural institution in the city !!!!

Their website is at http://www.noma.org (http://www.noma.org)

First time I went to NOMA was with my mother and sis-in-law. I thought it was going to be a "wimmens" thing, something I must endure for a couple of hours.
I loved it. The architecture and magnificance of the building itself and gardens are worth it alone. I liked the S. American exhibits alot. And I also like Matisse and Degas, lots of those in the permanent exhibits. Also is the Faberge collection (second largest in the world behind Moscow), a room of full of wonder and beauty.
Go if you get a chance.
