Are spots available adjacent to the festival, or do I have to find a local RV park?

Try this. We thought of RV'ing it once last year but ended up back at our usual favorite hotel.
Check this out. Maybe full by now.

Welcome to the board.....the neighborhood adjacent to the festival has strict local resident parking rules - residents have stickers. During the festival the city police tow any and all illegal vehicles. You may wish to try some of these links....in addition to the aforementioned.
http://www.neworleanscampground.com/ (http://www.neworleanscampground.com)
The KOA site mentioned above http://www.neworleansrvcamp.com (http://www.neworleansrvcamp.com/)
Rv Parks site (http://www.rvpark.com/la.htm)
The KOA grounds are the closest to everything you would want - but not sure if they are booked yet.
Good luck and happy camping !

I would say call FEMA, they still have a few sitting around ;) actually there is a website like www.goRVing America.com or something like that.Any reputable RV Dealership would have a list of websites, I'm not sure if any campgrounds are open in the area but there must be someplace.

i assume you are self contained, but may desire electric - so you don't have to run that nasty generator?
there are people around who rent parking spaces for the day on the street in front of their house, in the driveways, or lots they might own. not sure if any are looking for overnight guests. also not sure how to contact them ahead of time, but you could do a drive-about when you get down there, but i've have a sure-fire back up plan.
There is no on-site parking for oversized vehicles. You can park RV's for the day at Marconi Meadows in City Park, and ride the shuttle bus from there, but I think you'd have to find another place at night.

Welcome to the board Dennis! If it was me, I would come into town before JF & find someones yard to park in (24 hour parking) near the Fair Grounds. People charge to park cars in their yards so it would be a win/win for both of you. Walking distance to fest & extra money for the local people. FQRV might work also. I'm sure kjn can answer any questions for you on this location. NOT THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD so be careful day/night. They have a high brick fence with what I hope is 24/hour guards. The main problem with this location is you have low cost housing projects on two sides. (drugs & high crime) The good points on this location are: 3 blocks from the French Quarter with NOPD station on the way. It may be two or three miles from JF. If it was me, I would not be able to sleep at night at FQRV. Anyhow, welcome to JF. Is this your first Fest and who is on your to see list.
