It's been a privilege and honor for Mr W and I to work with Sonny's Krewe these past four years. I've seen a lot of write ups and interviews with Sonny but I've never seen one as on point about the man as this one. If you're ever in the market for a t-shirt...

Great interview!!! Thanks for posting. Looking forward to the RnB show 1st Sunday.
I still have my two Got Slide? T-shirts from the Southport Music Hall show a few years ago during JF. One I wear the other is in a ziplock bag.
I've been a fan of Sonny's for over 25 years. The first time I saw him he opened for A-Train at the Grant Street Dance Hall many years ago. Maybe 1984 ???? (maybe before 84) It was just Sonny on guitar. This was way before Grant Street had a/c. Grant Street was my favorite watering hole when I lived in Lafayette back in the 80s.
btw: I will miss closing out JF this year on 2nd Sunday at the RnB. Maybe they will schedule him next year before he is booked out of town.

Sweet ..love to hear about this "I'm actually know in the process of writing for my next project which will be my first instrumental album. I am really excited about it--I've got a lot of ideas and I'm just beginning to work those out so this year. We are planning on going into the studio in August to start cutting the tracks for that" as well info on the Dr. Tommy Comeaux fund

Your memories made me smile, Fred. We're going to miss that 2nd Sunday close out too and (from what the little birdies tell me) Mr Landreth kinda sorta (wink) wishes he wasn't missing it too.

He's been taking about doing this instrumental project for a few years now. We're all excited about it!

The Krewe is selling both weeks. We're going to help out with the after show rush on the 30th.

I got to hang with Sonny in the green room after a show at BB King's last year. Just the most relaxed dude in the world, very approachable.
I always thought he looked kind of like a hawk when he played, though. Like the strings were some defenseless rat he was going to swoop down on.

Hm, also something he could be looking to swoop down on.
