Loved it!
Wonder how long it took to set up, & how much space?
Talk about expressing your inner kid!

About seven years ago there was a very similar TV commercial for Honda Accord. The gimmick in the Accord ad was that most of the moving parts in the device were parts from a disassembled Accord. It's still up on YouTube:

The Accord ad in turn was apparently inspired by a 1987 film by two Swiss artists, Peter Fischli and David Weiss, "Der Lauf Der Dinge" (The Way Things Go). The chain of events in that film goes on for nearly thirty minutes. No narration, no context. I stumbled upon it on PBS one night and couldn't stop watching.

Fischli and Weiss found the Accord commercial so similar to their work that they threatened legal action, but I can't find that anything came of that.

To my eye, both "Der Lauf Der Dinge" and the Accord commercial have the advantage that they don't need to show a band singing so they can focus entirely on the device. In the OK Go video, many of the moving parts' interactions happen out-of-frame. I find that a little less satisfying.
