you should also dump the cache - it may be that it cached (is that a word) a bad string and it's stuck there.....know what I mean? make sure to dump the off-line files too....clean it out !!!!
Also - are you using the evil IE 7.0 (full o problems) or firefox?

never answer a man when he asks you if he was the best.
seems odd it happens from 2 different PC's - both huge - and 2 different internet providers - both DSL.
was wondering if its happening to anybody else.
but the bar thread is one of the biggest threads.
i'll try the cache dump (in your next post).

the simple way to do this is to go to the top of the browser, click tools, go to the bottom and click internet options, and then on the first page in the middle you should have options to delete files and cache....(if you're running IE etc.) Easier doing it that way than trying to figure out who has moved what in your IT department.....

okay - here we go.
when you look at the open screen right now - what appears in the upper left hand corner of the browser -
it may say
firefox
safari (unlikely - it's an apple product)
or there may be a blue e in the upper left corner.
you can also go to the top of the screen
go to help - just click it once....so the rest of the choices in the help appear
at the bottom of the help or at the top it might say
firefox help
internet explorer help
something....

As another IT person chiming in here - I cannot recommend strongly enough moving to the Firefox browser (which is open source freeware from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).
It's MUCH more secure than Internet Explorer ('specially version 7), less buggy and isn't by Microsoft - all good things!!
:)
BTW, I haven't had any problems accessing the bar myself - probably one of my problems ;)

I DID THAT BEFORE. I JUST TRIED AGAIN AND INCLUDED THE OFFLINE FILES TOO. SAME MEAN ERROR,
AND I KNOW THEY'RE HAVING A GREAT TIME IN THE BAR...AND I'M SOOO THIRSTY. AS SOON AS I GET IN, I'LL BUY YOU SEVERAL COLD ONES.

Yeah - I noted that earlier - IE just sucks...
Firefox is a freakin' dream after IE....especially 7.0 - If I only had the time to tell you all about the fun crud that IE 7.0 is doing to all kinds of things.....bite, bite, bite.....

f-it. Use the link above and install firefox. it will take 5 minutes and you can abandon the freakin' IE forever !!! (you do have administrative privies on your machine - right?)
hmmmm......onj is trying to think of other things....

i really think its related to the size, number of threads.
maybe ie won't pull up as much as firefox/foxfire.
i am/was a programmer and i'm pretty good at finding the problem - and sometimes even the solution.

hey - i feel your pain...
i can use SAS on the mainframe - but god forbid you put me infront of a pc and have it running SAS in windows....
I can't even get it to produce a simple chi square.....
this new fangled stuff is counter intuitive when you know how to write the code that makes these dialog boxes appear.

heading home now - gonna try the same 'fixes' on that pc and see if we fare any better.
and big thanks for trying.
