Dave Nolan, long-running Saturday night host of WBAI’s Morning Dew, former Wetlands Preserve jack-of-all-trades, soundman extraordinaire for several New York clubs and WYNC, and tireless champion of our scene passed away yesterday from a fatal heart attack. He had just seen and thoroughly enjoyed two nights of Furthur at Radio City Music Hall.

Dave was a true gentleman and real kindhearted soul. For some reason, he loved everything I wrote, and he was always generous with ebullient praise. He also was a walking encyclopedia of music and could tell you everything you’d want to know about obscure New York bands in the 1980s.

This is a terrible loss for our community and is unfortunate proof that life is both fragile and fleeting. Dave was only in his forties and always appeared to be in good health. He leaves behind a wife and child.

We should all live every day to the fullest as if it were our last, just like Dave always did.

Fare you well, my brother. Hopefully, Jerry's got a good solo ready for you tonight.

Condolences may be addressed to:

Ms. Joy Nolan or
Mrs. Dave Nolan

RIP Dave. I may have been dancing alongside you this week at Radio City. You went out on a high note. May The Four Winds Blow You Safely Home.
