For sure. And second Saturday looks pretty packed, too. Actually, every day does! FOMS is seriously starting here.

Shades of the 80s, early 90s for me. I have slowed down considerably in recent years, due to crippling arthritis. But this year, I have a scooter and I'm planning things out the way I used to. (Good thing hebjamn is 11 yrs younger than me! ;))

So far on my list I want to see:
Fri - 14acts
Sat - 10 acts
Sun - 13 acts first weekend
http://forums.randi.org/images/smilies/zzwhip.gif

Fri - 13 acts + contemporary crafts
Sat - 14 acts
Sun (OMG!!) - 19 acts!!!! http://forums.randi.org/images/smilies/mazeguyemotions/jaw-dropping.gif

I'll see ya at the fairgrounds, all over the fairgrounds! If you see my husband, offer him your chair, a drink of water, or a foot massage! http://forums.randi.org/images/smilies/rub.gif

I do that frequently all through fest. I have heard the best 2-3 songs from 5000 artists through the years. But I've also found some amazing music that I would not have heard otherwise. Besides, between the dancing and cruising the stages, I can work off all that weight from the fabulous NOLA food. YUM

Maybe this will work this year... I have decided that I'm not going to push myself to try to see it all. (ahahahahahahhahah I'm so funny :)) ) If I'm going to go to Crawfish Fest and see some of the same acts just a month later, then I should try to see acts I'm not going to be seeing or haven't seen... like Tab, Sonny, Van, Tab, Sonny, Norah Jones, Tab, Sonny, and that sort of thing. If I'll be seeing them in a club while I'm there, I can skip 'em and catch something I wouldn't normally get the chance to see.

Ok, this sounds good on paper, but I have a feeling it won't work... but I have good intentions of being able to go, enjoy and relax. Right. Relax. Sure.

Sorta off topic, but ..... I remember one year going from Fais Do Do to the jazz tent with Banzai Bill to see Dave Brubeck (my first time). I said to Bill, "if he plays Take Five, I'm going to cry. You could have heard a pin drop in that tent throughout the entire set, except, of course, for the thunderous applause after each song. And, yes, he played Take Five and we both cried and there was a very long standing ovation. It was a religious experience. Why I drifted here: it's playing on my Harvard FM radio station right now.

Wish I could but flights across the pond already booked. Still plenty more great acts to see on the other 5 days.

Wish I'd kept that journal I always promised to start....I've never gotten to the point of keeping a formal journal, but at best I've actually typed out a summary from the scrawled, dated lists of people/places/bands/food that I really try to write down every day back at my B&B. And at worst, I've got just those lists, shorthand memories of memorable times from particular years. I also make some notation on my cubes which acts at Fest I actually saw and keep those too (in my photo albums).

Yo Bry, I've kept a Fest "journal" over the past, I dunno, maybe 7-8 years. I print out an extra set of cubes and highlight at the end of the day all the acts I managed to see and write a few notes next to certain memorable ones, like John Hiatt's goosebumpmax encore of "Have a Little Faith in Me," Theresa's body paint, the first year I hung out with you and Bar at the Rads close-out, stuff like that.

Jerry Lee wins that one as I have seen George before at HOB (great show!). I sure do hate to miss him, though. One bourbon, one scotch and one beeya . . .

Chickie, have you checked out George T.'s 2006 release "THE HARD STUFF"? Lots of fun, especially, "Love Doctor".

Stop tempting me, Crepes. I've been dying to see Jerry Lee. Maybe in my virtual fantasy Jazzfest, George plays right before Jerry at the SAME STAGE. That's what I choose to believe anyway. For a whole month.

On the recent Last Man Standing duet video he was looking rather "propped up" at the piano and not very expressive, like some little strokes might have happened. Duet with Solomon Burke, stuck in his industrial-size chair, was just plain weird. Still his voice finds that 18-year old bad boy sound that shouts stand back, I'm more dangerous than I look.

Right. Relax. Sure.
Where are the darn CUBES? I NEED TO PLAN!!!!!

Did you mention Tab or Sonny ... you should check those two out

LOL!! That's so funny! Denbear was reviewing the dailies last night and kept saying things like: "Cool, Dr. John AND Van Morrison!!" - as if they would be appearing on the same stage together . . . I kept having to remind him that that's not how Quint schedules, which he should know better than I, having come to Jazzfest every year since it began.

He was just so excited by the dailies, I think he got a bit ferklempt :D

Well,.. after a few days of mind bogglin' reflection,.. all previous plans for easin' into the fest on the first day are in serious jeopardy,.. actually they are shot to hell..

I've tried numerous times now to calculate must sees for that Friday alone,.. and it just can't be done... Realistically,.. it - can - not - be - done.... There is no way possible to be everywhere I need to be and how the hell am I even supposta' consider finding bands I have yet to discover,.. and then there's the whole day at the Gospel tent to factor in....

New plan.... Immediately upon entering eat fried eggplant w/ crawfish topping,.. Then all bets are off.... Calgon,.. take me away......

Clearly you actually haven't heard him play guitar. He's soft at times but that was just cruel!

I have to agree with you. The first and only time John Mayer has played JF I thought he was a Dave Matthews want to be. Then he showed up at another show and the kid was smokin! The kid can play guitar. The last time I saw him was in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl jamming with BB King, Eric Clapton & Jimmie Vaughan. I look for Mayer/Allmans to play opposite stages 2nd Sat and I know where I will be. Two of the best guitarist in the world will be up on stage w/Allmans. They both play a mean slide also! Just guessing but Allmans @ Sprint and Mayer @ Acura.

I didn't see the PBS thinger, but I did buy the Last Man Standing CD, and was disappointed. If I see him at all at JF, it will just be to pay my respects to a legend - The same reason I saw B.B. King last week. We are getting our last chance at some of these icons.

The 'tween daze are real important for me to get ready for the Fest...I have tremendous FONHEG (fear of not having enough glass). This year is also a logistics problem 'cause my mom is flying in @ 4:30 on Patry day and needs to get in from the airport.

Next year will be much easier...they usually flip our weekends so I hopefully will show during the 1st weekend and be done for all the 'tween daze festivities!
