No Atlanta date :(
No Atlanta date :(
Look again: August 11, w/ CSN.
I'm torn; the CT date is obviously more convenient for me, but CSN is the guest, and although they are a favorite of Mrs. Lit, my interest level in them decreases signficantly without Neil. The Boston dates have MMJ, whom I have never seen and would much prefer; and the MSG date has the guest TBA. I would really like to see either the DBT or MMJ shows, but I have a feeling that I'm gonna end up at the CT one with CSN.
i wanna be in NOLA

Summerfest Milwaukee 6/25 - conflicts with all sorts of Crossroads plans.
Chicago 7/17 United Center - I'd rather be outdoors in Milwaukee, but...
ooooo, we get them here with DBT! Should be a hoot!

No New Orleans date  Why not? Def Leppard and Journey sold out the Arena last summer and they haven't had any new music for years. The promoters are overlooking the market here. It ticks me off that so many tours are still staying away from here.

Oh yay! I swear that little red push pin was not there yesterday, as I contemplated the Nashville show!
Thanks a bunch!

I mentioned this in another thread, but DBT are really kickin' it right now and opening for Petty should bring them a buncha new fans.
Their previous opening shed gigs (w/ the Crowes) were, by all accounts, not their best due to internal conflicts and money woes. It's said they basically did those gigs to pay off what they owed.
Petty & DBT here tonight, 9th row! Been looking forward to this one, but with heat index at 100 it's gonna be hotter than ....... Fest!

Please report back, Bry! They hit Cleveland next week on my mom's bday.. trying to convince her this is how the family should celebrate her day :)
The last time my family went to see Petty (like, 20 years ago), my mom left the tix on the bathroom counter in Arby's. We made it all the way to the gate before discovering this. Drove back to Arby's, and there they were, sittin' right where she left 'em :)
Hope you had a great night!!
Excellent show! Band was very tight, as per usual.
Drive By Truckers were great as well, large contingent of their fans up front. Short set made even shorter due to long lines at Will Call, so get there early to see them! DBT finished their set with a rousing version of 'Let There Be Rock':
Dropped acid, Blue Oyster Cult concert, fourteen years old,
And I thought them lasers were a spider chasing me.
On my way home, got pulled over in Rogersville Alabama, with a half-ounce of weed and a case of Sterling Big Mouth.
My buddy Gene was driving, he just barely turned sixteen.
And I'd like to say, "I'm sorry", but we lived to tell about it
And we lived to do a whole lot more crazy, stupid, shit.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
With 38 Special and the Johnny Van Zant Band.
One night when I was seventeen, I drank a fifth of vodka, on an empty stomach, then drove over to a friend's house. And I backed my car between his parent's Cadillac's without a scratch.
Then crawled to the back door and slithered threw the key hole, and sneaked up the stares
And puked in the toilet.
I passed out and nearly drowned but his sister, DD, pulled me out.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
And the band that I was in played "The Boy's are Back in Town".
Skynyrd was set to play Huntsville, Alabama, in the spring of 77, I had a ticket but it got cancelled.
So, the show, it was rescheduled for the "Street Survivors Tour".
And the rest, as they say, is history.
So I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoads in 82
Right before that plane crash.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw AC/DC
With Bon Scott singing, "Let There Be Rock Tour".
With Bon Scott singing, LET THERE BE ROCK!

We'll have ZZ Top opening here.
The show was supposed to be in May w/Joe Cocker but the beginning of the tour is now the end (record co. didn't get the album out on time). Love the new album - quite blusey! Also love that we got the full free download just by buying concert tickets.
(so glad he cut his hair)

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Postpone Show After Mike Campbell Faints Onstage
http://www.jambands.com/images/2010/07/21/23146/MojoTourAdMat-353x.jpg
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers postponed last night’s show at Cleveland’s Blossom Music Center. Heartbreakers’ guitarist Mike Campbell fainted onstage in St Louis Sunday night due to extreme heat and humidity this past Sunday, and the guitarist has been advised by doctors to take a few days rest after fainting on stage. Campbell left the stage for ten minutes in St. Louis after fainting, but he later returned for an encore consisting of “Refugee,” “Runnin’ Down A Dream” and “American Girl.”
The group will return to the Blossom Music Center on August 31. Previously purchased tickets will be honored.

As previously reported, (http://www.jambands.com/news/2010/07/21/tom-petty-the-heartbreakers-postpone-show-after-mike-campbell-faints-onstage/) Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers postponed Tuesday’s show at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls after guitarist Mike Campbell fainted onstage a few days earlier. Drive-By Truckers was slated to open the Cuyahoga Falls show and, after Petty’s cancellation, added a surprise gig at Cleveland’s Beachland Ballroom and Tavern. Old 97’s performed in the venue’s Ballroom earlier and, during their show, word quickly spread about the Truckers late-gig in the venue’s 150-person Tavern room.
SWEET!!!!!

Damn! Knew nothing about this impromptu gig 5 mins from my house. Thought not being able to catch the Old 97's was bad enough, now this!! :(
Get well soon, Mike :)
