Me too! I get in Tuesday night...
How many years in a row has Marcia played the daze between Fest date? 6 or 7? I'm sure to be in the minority here, but I think somebody else should get that date, at least occasionally...

You're not in the minority - it was discussed somewhere.
I'm good with it. There have been years when that is the only chance we've had to see her & she's always paired up with someone different.

Considering how crowded it is! I am thinking that is one tradition that will continue! If I were the organizers I certianly wouldn;t change it.

Marcia is not a local musician, so this may be the only opportunity the square has to book her.
some of the other bands may be less willing to play a "free show" because it might take away from their ability to pull at their other gigs. and i'm guessing the square doesnt over pay these bands. (arent these fund raisers?)
i think it will remain too crowded on the Wed 'tween, even if they change bands. it has become very well known among the jazzfesters.
long lines & too much noise. there are many other things to do that day.

the bayou party at Jolie & Dave's is awesome, we will be there.
and i hope Ingrid moves the BBQ back to wednesday. when they have it on a jazzfest day, we miss too much of it.

Why?
She draws huge crowds for this slot, and it's a tradition for a lot of people.
Should the Rads & Neville Brothers not close the Fest because it's time for someone else to have a chance? (Yes, I know they had a couple of years off in there.) A LOT of people want to see them in this slot, so why would you change it just for the sake of change?
As Barb pointed out, between Chaz Fest, Ingrid's Bash (if she moves it back), the Square, in stores, and a myriad of parties, there's no shortage of options for Wednesday. In fact, Wednesday in between is the one day that gives me the most agita, as I try in vain to do everything.

I love Marcia, & I'm satisfied with her playing every time, but you have a point.
My last visit to New Orleans, around New Year, I heard this joke:
How many New Orleanians does it take to change a light bulb?
3
One to change the bulb & 2 to discuss how much better they liked the old one.
