I hope they do a better job than they did up at the Detroit JazzFest. Even though the Corporate Headquarters in located in nearby Ann Arbor, it was pretty lackluster. On the other hand, my friend is the national Jazz buyer so maybe they'll get excited about this one!

Running the tent is a bear for whoever does it. The buyers better know more than jazz.

Kitten,
I'm all ears. Personally, I head for the Louisiana Book Sellers tent, and spend my CD monies at LMF. I'd be happy to pass on people's opinions.
First step, obviously, the act on the schedule. Beyond that, what ya thinkin'?

For the masses who don't know about LMF, some of those musicians who aren't with us any more would add to the tent: Gatemouth, Louis Armstrong, Professor Longhair, Clifton Chenier...

I spoke with my friend the other day and she was working her way through the schedule while helping our station fundraise. She is planning on being as comprehesive as practical while extending an extra hand to folks like Basin Street who may need it.
She is very interested in doing consignments from any locals who don't have regular distribution channels.
Interested musicians should contact the Metarie Borders store for info.

Any of us who have contacts with musicians should let them know about borders being willing to sell cds for them but that it must be taken care of before fest.

Yeah - I think that's a great idea.......this way people who may not track these boards or think about Borders, at the moment, would be able to see it. Maybe WWOZ would post something as well........

We put the Borders info in all of the contract packages so we inform all of the musicians that perform.

Dave, I think we were talking about other locals who may not be performing for a variety of reasons.....
