Bobby Charles' contribution to Louisiana's musical landscape was tremendous and we are all deeply saddened by his passing.
At the time of his death, Bobby was awaiting the pressing of his first release in years. "Timeless" is Bobby's tribute to the influence and friendship New Orleans R&B genius Fats Domino gave him.
"Timeless", Bobby Charles' last work, is now available for us to enjoy and to be one more jewel in the crown of his life's work.
Jim Bateman, CEO of Rice 'n' Gravy records, has made the CD available through us at Louisiana Music Factory in advance of its national release later this year. Please visit our site, www.louisianamusicfactory.com (http://www.louisianamusicfactory.com), to order.
While Bobby Charles received rather less recognition during his life than he deserved, here in Louisiana folks know how great he was as a songwriter, performer and as a person. We will never forget him.

Hitting the link in your post i get the same result...."Oops! This link appears to be broken. "

That's really strange...I think it's the only site i've had trouble accessing.
Perhaps someone has barred me from that site to prevent further damage to bank-balance...
Ok, I've definitely got to have this album asap. But, being the chronic rationalizer that I am, I need to add at least three others to the order so that I can justify the shipping charges. And the sad part is that, as I look through the new releases, I already own pretty much every one of them that I would want, as I came home with a dozen two weeks ago, a half-dozen in October, and probably another dozen or so last Fest.
So...my question is, does anyone have anything new or interesting to recommend to me that I might consider adding to my order?

Have you tried clearing your cache/cookies/history? Sometimes that hoses mine up on some sites and clearing it fixes the problem.

Galactic's new CD comes out today, so I doubt you got that on one of your other trips! Looks great!
I'm also blown away by Patty Griffin's new "Downtown Church" produced by Buddy Miller.
Anybody got one more for the list?
Can't wait to get my copy of the Bobby Charles CD when I'm in town for Mardi Gras this weekend!

Not at all sure if this is your thing, Lit...but theres a new Little Freddie King cd out this week. It's live, so will be very raw indeed. For some of us, that's a good thing ...(unless we're talking about superannuated Brit rockers with bus-passes...)

And the Presevation Hall record is a MUST. The tracks i've heard so far are terrific...Tom Waits on "Tootie Ma..." superb !

Thanks. I ordered the Galactic CD from Amazon over the weekend for $9.99 with the Anti- discount; I couldn't pass on that deal.
I will check out Patty Griffin's new one. She one who I've always liked when I've heard her, but I don't own any of her albums--just a track or two on some compilations from LEAK Magazine.

Yeah, I saw that new Freddie album at the top of the new releases and thought it was the most likely suspect to be added to my shopping cart. I hesitated a bit becaise it is live, and there are no track samples. I don't mind live (or raw for that matter), but I get concerned about sound quality when I haven't heard it first. I will look around the web to see if I can sample it elsewhere. Thanks.

Yeah, that's on the list. But I don't think it's out yet.

The Cedric Watson looks like one I'd like to check out. And, Sonny Landreth Mississippi Blues which is some old recordings from 1973 and 1977. Another I want o check out is Lillian Boutte Live at Palm Court.

I recently picked up the "South Memphis String Band" CD which consists of Jimbo Mathus, Alvin Youngblood Hart and Luther Dickinson playing ancient blues and Jug-band music. Really good... I was hoping for a Jazzfest appearance...perhaps a night show will materialise.

Or you can come back for Kenny Brown's North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic the last weekend in june and maybe they'll play there. Alvin, Luther and Jimbo are usually at the picnic.

I wish, F-J ! Can't do everything ...though I do try.
I'm actually thinking about trying to get to Helena for the "King Biscuit" later this year. Never been to that festival yet, and have heard only good things about it...so let's hope that will work out.

Cool. it's a good one. accomodations are hard to come by though. It's basically sleazy motels or the casino just across the river in Mississippi. I've been many times so let me know if there's any way i can help with rooms or whatever. :)

Thanks F-J.
Am hoping to sort something out while I'm at the Juke-Joint fest in April.
I generally try to pop over to Helena to visit Sonny Payne and Bubba's record shack at least once when I'm in the vicinity.
