I would like to volunteer at Second Harvest and need to know how far away from the Quarter it is. I am EXTREMELY geographically challenged and need to plan ahead of time or I may end up in the swamps with the gators . :o

Steffie, you might want to talk to the folks at festaid. They are threadheads and Second Harvest is one of the charities they organize for daze between. Their link is at threadheads.org

It is about 11 miles out of the Canal Street side of the Quarter, Steffie. 1201 Sams Ave. Last year some of us split cabs, there were a couple of people who had cars and they gave myself and zydekitten and tbird a ride back one day. Myself and Priestboy are contemplating volunteering out dere and may have a vehicle to do the ride share thang.

Yes we are dudes not dudettes ;) Like I said if we have wheels we would be glad to do it. You doing 1st or 2nd wkend? Guess it doesn't really matter since volunteering is mostly done on the daze between. Worst comes to worst, we can split a cab.

I fly in the night of April 26th and out on May 7th. How about you guys?

Just about the same for moi-day of the 26th with PB and I am out on the 8th.
PB is out on the 2nd. If I do volunteer on the 1st it will only be a short shift due to the Patry. Not sure what my other daze will look like.

They have a shift from 9am to 1pm..................

yeah I did that last year for a few days...get some volunteering in, then some lunch and cocktails in the 1/4

I was thinking about volunteering on the 30th and the 1st.
The cocktails in the 1/4 were a given ( everyday ) :D

We're doing Second Harvest Thursday morning after Rosetreefest/Baseball/Marcia in the Park/Ingrid's Backyard/Stomp. P'raps I can nap in the cab on the way there!

We were out there a couple of days last year. We car pooled and taxied. As it gets closer, people start volunteering rides, cab shares, etc. It was pretty easy getting back & forth.
