Last night at The Maple Leaf - Junco Partners - John Gros on keys/B-3 and June Yamagishi on guitar from PGF, Tony Hall (bass) and Raymond Webber (drums) from Dumpstaphunk, and just for good measure, add in Brian Stoltz and his funky guitar. Awesome show with a good, fun crowd. At one point, June and Brian faced off in an outrageous guitar exchange (along with Tony on bass) that seemed to go on for 15 minutes. Lots of Threadheads in da house, too - we saw Jada, Denbear, Seefood and both of the 2-fers.

If you have the chance to catch this combination of musicians at Fest time (or otherwise), I would HIGHLY recommend that you do so...

Wow---That sounds wild as a hoodoo!!!

Brian Stoltz and June Yamagishi, two of the greatest funk guitars around...........

Be great if that combo gets together for some night show action during Fest.

Awesome. I caught a little of a similar lineup at New Year's Eve at Howlin' Wolf. They played together during the last half hour of the Papa Grows set. (My ears are still ringing.)

Where has Jada been anyway? She hasn't posted in months.

I agree with everything you said, Frank! So much so that they MAY have a Tuesday gig during Fest...

They did the Junco Partners in '09 on the Wednesday between with Terrence Higgins on drums. It was my first trip to the Leaf, and it didn't disappoint! At some point in the evening one of the toilet tanks in the men's room had cracked and water from the flooded bathroom snaked thru the club - past the bar - and out the front door. I don't think anyone else even noticed!
