We haven't been back to Fest since we moved to TX in 2002, been busy with the kids, etc. When we did go every year it seemed that catching a taxi at the designated stands took forever. Is this still the case or have things improved? Debating over doing taxis from the quarter or just driving and paying for parking. Any thoughts?

Thanks

The taxi situation hasn't changed much (except the price, now $5/person for special events including Fest). If you leave the Fairgrounds early, the lines can be short, but if you wait till the very end of Fest on a crowded Saturday, then you may be waiting a half hour or longer.

Thanks Swag, that's how I remembered it way back when. It'll be good to get back to the Fest, never missed a year between '83 - '02.

I waited over 2 hours one day!! After that I drove the rest of fest!

Last year we caught a ride after fest from our accomodations uptown, from this taxi driver that had a huge tray of his wife's fried chicken. He was a riot. I lost his card though and was wondering if anyone else had come across this guy and had his info.

Thanks.

my prefrence is the taxi / if you call united 20 min. before you are ready to leave for the fest they will pick you up at your hotel its a snap/ coming back can be a little tricky and fun and is part of the jazz fest experience
