Hi all, I was wondering what the best way to go about getting tickets for the late night shows that don't have a venue website...Chicky Wah Wah, for example? Are they even on sale yet? Are they all released on the same date? Thanks for the help!

Same question for another venue that has a web site that is crummy. I want to see North Mississippi All Stars at One Eyed Jacks. The are there Friday and Saturday (1st weekend)

Anyone know if they pre-sell at One Eyed Jacks?

Thanks again

I've never heard of Chickie Wah Wah or One Eyed Jacks preselling. I'll look into it though and see what I can find out.

Many Nola venues use Ticketweb.com for advanced tix. I just checked, and they have One Eyed Jacks, but no Fest shows yet. Also, Tips, Rock n Bowl, Howlin Wolf...

Not sure about Chickie Wah Wah, but I'd be surprised to see sell outs there.

which late nights do you think will sell out (which do i need to get in advance)? We're considering Greyboy, NOSC, George Clinton, and Galactic, and maybe some smaller shows at chicky wah wah/maple leaf but i'm thinking those won't sell out since they're the late LATE night shows.

Thanks again!

Boat shows often sell out.

When I did the grids in '03, I noted shows that sold out in advance. You can check those to get an idea.

how late are some of the shows?

They are usually scheduled to begin at either 2 a.m. or 3 a.m. -- but don't always start on time. Often the sun is up by the time they are over.

I thought the 5AM shows were the late shows.

Shows at Tipitina's that you DEFINITELY want to go to - those you will want to get tickets for, as they may not exactly "sell out" (though I have seen this happen), but they will often have a line for advance ticketholders to go in first, then make those without tickets wait to pay to get in.

House of Rules shows can sell out, straight up. No mo' in da do'!!!

Howlin' Wolf, Republic, One Eyed Jack's - hard to say. They could sell out if they are booking a bigname band on a night when there aren't a lot of other bigname acts that night at other clubs.

Boat shows sell out. If you want to go to a boat show, get your tickets now - and make sure to get there when they tell you, or they WILL LEAVE WITHOUT YA! Didn't happen to me, but has happened to many a lagging friend...:o

Small clubs like Maple Leaf, Chickie Wah Wah, d.b.a - it's all cover at the door. If they get too packed, they may make people wait, but I can't recall the last time I had to wait in line at any of those clubs, even during Fest.

Hope this helps!

Tips and Maple leaf do sell out. I have been turned away at both during JF. Basically, my rule of thumb is if you know you want to go -- get tickets, you can always find someone who wants them. If you won't kick yourself if you get closed out than don't bother, there's always something else good going on.

I'm not sure who's checking this thread, but I did, so I figured I'd through in my 2 cents.

I'm aware of some great late night shows at the Blue Nile, Tip's French Quarter and Republic, all a part of a concert series by Backbeat Foundation.

Plus...a new venue...
The Studio At Colton at 2300 St. Claude Avenue, is a post-Katrina grass-roots conversion project of an old public school. Through the sweat of the residents, classrooms have been renovated into artist studios space and there is public assembly space including a 1000 capacity theater with a large built-in stage. It has a large open space in front of the stage and some theatre style seating toward the back. The Prospect 1 International Art Biennial featured some events and exhibits there and it is where Krewe du Vieux held their Mardi Gras Ball this year. It is located on the burgeoning St. Claude arts corridor that has generated a good bit of development interest from the artistic and real estate communities. It is walking distance from famed Frenchmen Street and on a major bus line (and 1 block from the Hi-Ho Lounge).
