Okay - clouds passing over again - but it's almost over anyway. Husband broke out the telescope (I forgot we had it.....) and we invited the neighbor kids up....

Now that it's high enough to see, it's just partially eclipsed-about a third when we first looked and now about a fourth. I t0ok my granddaughters out to see it and yyr, pc, it's cold out there. Kali, who is newly 5 and a tv addict, after I explained what we were looking at said oh, yeah, i saw that on the weather channel today. :) when she was three, she would be watching tv in the other room and would yell at her mama, hey, i'm watching a tennis match. Hey, its 36 degrees in New York. For a while, her favorite channel was food network.

That's cute, kk. My daughter surprises me all the time. Last night at Olive Garden, she told me she wanted to visit the Old World. I said, yea me, too. Then I'm like, How did you know about that? And she said, you know Mom, from Schoolhouse Rock. Remember? I'm thinking, Cool, she's learning something good.
He, my moon looks white still. Does it not turn red when it reaches totality?

Likewise, Blue. Yea, I'm still on the fence about that. I don't know if I want to go now or save him for Fest. I need to save up my money anyway. If I win tickets, I'll go. Where did you see him?
I'm sorry you couldn't get to see the eclipse. I feel kind of let down cuz it looked just like a regular moon to me. Did you check out my link to see it live? It's still on.

Oh PC you should go! Because I'm thinking what we see at JF will a different show from what his tour is. It was fab! All NOLA style music from Oh My Nola CD. I saw him here in Clearwater, FL at Ruth Eckerd Hall (heaven's waiting gate:) ) *says prayer for PC to win tix* if not "charge it" you will NOT be dissappointed!
I did check out your link earlier ... no red moon? I think that has something to do with where the sun's placement is ... if the lunar eclipse happens right at sunset I think there is a better chance of seeing a red moon. (the light from the moon is a reflection from the sun) I witnessed one about 10 years ago or so that happened at the "right" time ... it was b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!!!! camped on the front lawn just me & the my Brandi (the oldest child that moved out a few days ago) ... it was most memorable!

pc, from the link I read, the moon was totally eclipsed very early, really before dark here. And because of houses and trees, I couldn't see it until about an hour later. At that time it was already less than half eclipsed. If yall saw what looked like a partial moon, that was the moon partially eclisped because it's almost a full moon. Does that make sense?

Yep. I figured that out. I watched it almost the whole time but all I could see was the dark shadow. Wasn't red. :(

I'm just impressed all to hell that chicklet knows about Schoolhouse Rock!!! [singing, "It's a magic number"]
I didn't get to see the moon much as I was driving home from skiing in the thick foresty mountains - but I did get to see it all huge and full in the rear-view mirror, it wasn't red though . . . :(

lol, I am an avid believer in Schoolhouse Rock. I LOVED it when I was a kid and still remember some of the songs. When I check the tapes out from the library and I hear her listening to them and a certain song comes on, I get tears in my eyes at the nostalgia of it all.
You know what song I love singing? The Preamble . . . We the People, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice and secure domestic tranquility. Provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare a-and, secure the blessings of liberty, to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for thaaaaaa United States of America.

I'm just a bill,
Yes I'm only a bill,
And I got as far as Capitol Hill.
Well now I'm stuck in committee
And I sit here and wait
While a few key congressmen
Discuss and debate
Whether they should
Let me be a law...
Oh how I hope and pray that they will,
But today I am still just a bill.

I had totally forgotten about the Electric company. That was my bro's time, ithink. What years? I have ALL the schoolhouse rock videos available for checkout in the school library. And a few years, at a technology conf in Ark, the composer of many schoolhouse songs spoke and sang and also played a jazz club in LR.
