Unless they're in the lineup and I overlooked it...
Louisiana folks - anything in the local press about this group, from a school in Hammond? They didn't make it to last year's fest. I was hoping this year would mark their return. I always look forward to their performances.

No info, same as last year. Hammond State has been renamed to the Hammond Development Center. Last year eat_mo and I both tried to get info, and lead to dead ends.
I just can't imagine they aren't still around, but I can't find out any info. I may call down there to see what gives.
It is very disappointing, so many of us loved them... :(

No - but I know someone in Hammond who would definitely know. dialing phone now.......
Okay - there was a documentary done by two students out of the University of Florida- it was called Why me, Lord? Co-directed by Robert Waldrep and Jake Springfield
You can check out the Documentary Institute's website (listing the production) at

I called down to HDC today. The Jammers are still together and performing, but not officially affliated with HDC. Their next preformance will be at the Strawberry Fest in Ponchatoula. Not listed here though:

Someone in the band is supposed to contact me via email :)

Wow that was a fast response. I'll call later and report back the scoop.
I guess this means I won't be getting a good spanking? Maybe I should withhold the info...
Here is the email I got back:
My name is Shannon Trautman and am one of the directors of the
Strawberry Jammers, the performing group from Hammond Developmental
Center. I understand you would like to speak to somebody about the
group. Please feel free to call or email me with your inquiries.
My office number is 985-XXX-XXXX. I am available from 8-4:30 Monday
through Friday.
Sincerely,
Shannon Trautman

Mac - awful sweet of you to investigate the Jammers' schedule. Maybe next year we'll see them at the Fest.
Orleansnj - that link you provided to their documentary looks intriguing and I will definitely check it out.
Lastly, Amyloves...now don't be freaked out when you see my avatar. It's just that my last facelift was a little over the top...actually, THAT Jaypee is a mannequin in the window of a FQ headshop...can't remember where exactly. I saw it and whipped out the camera. I knew the photo would come in handy someday.
