Daltrey can't sing very well these days, Pete can't hear and the most powerful rhythm section ever to grace a rock and roll stage is in heaven. I'm a HUGE Who fan, but they do not have it anymore. My guess is they will play along to a pre recorded track as Daltrey is more miss than hit these days. Just my opinion based on the last few performances (VH1 Honors, 911 tribute ).

I dunno---The last time I saw the Who play live (2007) it was an absolutely brilliant, passionate, extremely hard-driven show, that ranks with the best concerts I have ever heard.............

Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are rock and roll royalty, and I would go and hear them play at any possible chance I get.

I have to respectfully disagree as well...
We saw them at the Nokia in Los Angeles in 2008 and they were amazing. I thought they sounded great. My only complaint was that Daltrey doesn't look like he did 30 years ago (he was pretty much PERFECT looking in 'Tommy'). It's hard to reconcile a 60+ year old Tommy....

They really need to stop calling themselves "The Who". I guess "Who's Left" would be a little creepy. "Townshend/Daltrey" might be more appropriate at this point.

I may have to see them again next time they come around. The last time I saw them was in Chicago on the "farewell tour" of 1982. "It's Hard" was recently released, and "Eminence Front" was on MTV and the radio. The Moon man was missed, but a great show regardless.

I dug this up for you, Matthew.

Very cool video, Greg---Thanks for the link!!!

Jerry Garcia and Pete Townshend apparently became pretty good friends (who just happened to share in the same bad habits) after first hanging out when the Grateful Dead and The Who played a couple of shows together in Oakland back in 1976.............

Which "Farewell" Tour do you prefer? I thought the 82 "Farewell" tour was better than the '89 "Farewell" tour.

I agree! Those are the only two farewell shows I saw, though I did see every tour from '75 to '97. Better yet, imo, was the Quadrophenia tour in '96/'97, with guests Gary Glitter, Billy Idol, and Simon Townsend. Saw two shows, really loved it!

Pete is said to have been amazed that The Dead played a completely different set on the 2nd Day On The Green with The Who, who have always had pretty much one set list going at a time. He also later played with The Dead on the Rokpalast German TV show in 1981.
