Wow. Thanks for the heads-up on this! Will have to run it by the posse as a NYE idea.

Wow. In truth I hate going out on New year's Eve, but this is tempting. The Independent would be a great place to see them.

That 11/17 date never did make the Palms calendar, so I'm assuming it never got inked, or was cancelled - I'm glad I noticed before I got too carried-away gathering our Fest Krewe for the show. I'll have to ask Dave what happened. It's a great venue, though kind of "quiet" for the show the guys would probably like to do.

The place they are playing here tomorrow is a new venue; I have not been there yet for a show, and though friends say it's not really a "get-up-and-groove" kinda joint, I am confident that this rare (for Salt Lake) infusion of New Orleans StreetFunk will have people (including the few friends I have been able to get in touch with so far) up and on their feet.............

Hey MM, have a great time and send along a note about tonight's show. I think we'll try to do Santa Rosa next weekend.

Is that a possibility for you, Duende? If not I'll ping you before the 12/30 Furthur show. That's my night, too, since NYE is being reserved for Trombone Shorty at The Independent. Hope to see the rest of you there!

I love that "other" Last Day location - but I've got a recording thing that weekend. Last show there was the subdudes a few years back. I'd love to hear about your strategy for the Furthur show - the Civic being a so-called "hole" :) Were all of the tix all Gen Admission? I'm usually a floor guy, being over 6-ft, but the balcony looks tempting, now being over 50! Got a fav nearby place to grab a bite beforehand? Scott

Hey Duende,

Sorry to leave you hanging! I've been out of town.

After all these years, I've made my peace with the SF Civic. My friends and I usually get seats straight back on the floor, and we almost always go to a local Thai restuarant before a Dead-related show at the Civic or Warfield. We can definitely make space for you.

Drop me an e-mail at vondolls at aol dot com and I would be happy to give you more details.

One more SF note for next weekend:

Clarence Bucaro with Kirk Joseph at Mojitos (North Beach) on Saturday, 11/21. We had a great time seeing Anders and the Southern Troubadours there a few months ago!

Very cool! Now we have to decide whether to see Joe Krown with Wolfman and Batiste in Santa Rosa that night or do this show. Good problem to have! We'll have to meet up at Mojito's if it wins the coin flip.
