Great news!

Frontier will start offering daily service to Denver in June of next year too

USA Today says that
For the first time since Hurricane Katrina, Frontier will once again fly out of New Orleans' Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Starting June 15, the airline will fly one daily flight to Denver. Southwest recently announced they will be adding two daily trips from the airport.

"About 7.9 million people came through Louis Armstrong last year, or 82% of the number of travelers who touched down in New Orleans in 2004. But air travel grew 5.5% in 2008 over 2007, and analyst Michael Boyd said New Orleans is on pace to see another 5% rise in passengers by year's end," The Associated Press writes of air travel through the airport since Hurricane Katrina devastated the area in 2005

I always drive because I bring so much stuff and like to have my car to make groceries etc... and now, with the checked bag fees I'm not sure it would be any better to fly... although going direct is tempting as opposed to the 9 hour drive. yes, I drive fast...still good to have the options again.
