The Rock N Bowl is always one of the first stops on my Jazzfest Virgins Tour™. When they walk in and see hula hoop dancers on the bar, a drunken, shirtless John Blancher introducing the band, hardcore Cajun/Zydeco dancers rocking to Keith Frank or Dopsie and the crash of bowling pins, there's this special moment when you can identify the exact second their heads explode.

(A close second is watching their faces while a bunch of guys on freakin' trombones play Led Zeppelin tunes in a tin-roofed dive bar uptown.)

For most "hard core zydeco dancers" as Ross puts it, ALL trips to Louisiana begin on Thursday at R&B for zydeco nite.
When they had upstairs & "Bowl Me Under" both going with 2 zydeco bands, it was heaven

Yea, I saw it, it was OK but kinda disappointing. Too short, typical TV "touch the surface" sound bites. As in, he got some $$ & rebuilt.....
Didn't at all portray R&B's ambience, or mention the fact that he had recently lost the downstairs part of R&B just before Katrina, therefore was "the last man standing" upstairs (cosmic justice? Divine intervention?)
How's the snow up your way? We're getting pretty good in Denver....

We've gotten about 5"-6" so far. I think Denver has gotten more than us :(
