We are so stoked here!
We were informed this morning that one of our pieces was chosen by the Ogden Museum of Southern Art to be presented to President Obama while he is in New Orleans today.
I will post more details as I get them, I just wanted to share the good news with my other family! ;) :D :D
This is a similar vase----

Congrats Mark---President Obama is lucky to recieve a beautiful Rosetree Original as a memento of his visit to New Orleans!!!
Lets hope he looks at it often and is reminded of how very important New Orleans is to our country and to the entire world as a whole, and how much work is still needed to help New Orleans and the Gulf Coast truly recover and revitalize............

Congratulations. Mark and Brenda!!
A very Steuben like moment. If your art is good enough to give to the President of the United States (and we always knew it was), I better start moving those pumpkins deeper into the China Cabinet.
Now that I know this guy has real good taste in Art, I really think he is pretty cool. ( As I recall....some crustacean friends of mine had their eye on another amphora-like vase last year (http://www.nojazzfest.com/chat/showpost.php?p=134512&postcount=271)...)

Perhaps you should edit your Nobel Peace Prize post before the White House staff discovers it and rejects the vase on that basis...

I'm not sure who gets it. I've heard it both ways, but I think that it is White House property. Either way, we are ecstatic!

Here's the latest....
Yes, it was not a dream...
I spoke to the Chancellor's office this morning. There were photos taken, but they don't have them yet. The bad news is that the piece was in a box when presented to the President. It was such a whirlwind stop, that they didn't have the time to do the whole unwrap-wrap thing. I am trying to get a transcript of Dr. Ryan's presentation speech where he told the President a little about me. I am also waiting to see if the White House sends a letter to UNO thanking them for the gift.
A press release will be put up on my new website on the press page. Press releases will be sent to the media.
Any other suggestions?

I'm sure you'll get a letter from the White House. I assume you've posted a pic & blurb on the Rosetree facebook page with a link to your website. We can all post the link over the next few days. And do that again when you get the letter, or anything else happens related to this. Are you twittering? This occasion could be a good reason to start? Can you send the press release to arts organizations, art fair producers, etc?

Just one for the Prez. Next you give a gift of to some foreign dignitary, one that signifies the best of America, I hope you will think of New Orleans and Rosetree Studio. After you unwrap your package, I'm sure you will understand.

Wow, the First Family and I have the same glass artist's work? Bitchin'! Congratulations, Mark - now get ready for the "I've got to have one too" flurry. :)
I just wanted to say that the amphora design, if I can call it that - and which I don't yet own, struck a chord with me the first time I saw it. It's a timeless piece. Somehow, I think my parents did something right, through all of the country/western crap they also foisted on us kids, by subscribing to National Geographic. It seems like they brought up old shipwreck vessels in every issue!

liking that idea too! maybe they have a person in charge of selecting gifts for foreign dignitaries that you can send info as an American Artist 'featured' in the White House... something like that...

Great news, Mark. I'm so happy for you.
Desiree Rogers, the White House Social Secretary, is a New Orleans native and former Zulu queen. Mark, you might want to send her a nice piece of glass for her office. I'm just sayin'....
