Are you going for any particular mental association with the new one like with Threadheads (we've all read that explanation in interviews) or is it just a general name you're looking for? Will the new company strive for any sort of specific "personality" for the identity?

A new record company is being set up for projects from musicians not from New Orleans, but who either have some kind of affiliation with New Orleans, and/or who want to record in New Orleans/Louisiana, and/or who want to use New Orleans musicians on their albums. So, someone like Betty Harris or Paul Cebar (and two other musicians you know but I can't talk about yet) would fall under this umbrella. However, because negotiations with Betty have been ongoing, it is likely she will still fall under THR, Inc.

Name of the new company to be revealed probably later this week!

I had this purpose in mind with both of my first two suggestions, as I think both names connote a loose connection to the original mission of THR, and the "threads" is a nod to the source. But I also really like Matthew's suggestion, as this company is "a little something extra" on top of what THR has already set out to do. And the later-added "LMNO" is a lagniappe within a lagniappe. Very nice Matthew.

Thanks Lit---I thought the meaning of Lagniappe fit nicely with the new company as I understand it, and then the LMNO seemed to be a natural progression............

(Speaking of something extra, if by chance my selection was actually chosen, I would be honored to contribute any gift certificates awarded to next years raffle)

I'm a big fan so far of Ross's "Non-Prophet" (that's a great one) and Fred's "What the Funk". Stax's "Festgiving Records" does fit the bill on several levels and I like that one, too. "Loose Threads" and "Thread Drift" are also pretty good, along with "Muffaletta Music" except that no one else will know how to pronounce it.

Thinking of JF got me thinking about "Inside Track Records" or "Dirt Track Records" or maybe something with flags - "Flagpole Music" or "What's your Flag".

Except that now I'm thinking of a delicious Cochon de lait and a Rosemint tea. Sigh.
