This is great. Derek is an amazing person. His heart is bigger than the rest of his huge body. He was a hero during the storm as well, He "borrowed" a van and got many of his elderly neighbors to Houston. Please tell everyone to vote for him.
I predict many of the next generations of New Orleans finest musicians will be thanking Derrick Tabb and the Roots of Music for changing their lives.:)

Something needs to be done about this...this program is much too valuable to be lost because of lack of funding. This is a full-body/mind/soul program teaching responsibility, discipline, and artsmanship - as well as providing hot meals, physical activity, and education.
These are our next Uncle Lionels...our next Kermit Ruffins...our next Derrick Tabbs...
What can we do? Jazz Fest is upon us, this is a great opportunity to figure something out...
Fundraisers? Awareness? Grant writing? Our collective intelligence is begging to be put to use here...
