And to think that despite it all, they still might have won the game if not for the idiocy of trying a draw play on 4th and long when in Packer's field goal range.

When does hockey season start?

(BTW, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears still rock!)

Johhny you will always be welcomed to the Black & Gold Nation. We love our boys & also hate our boys at times. We are there in the good time & also the bad times(wearing paper sacks on our heads). If you can hang with the Saints through the good & bad, we welcome you.

this week is the real first game. if mcnabb doesnt play, i give us a pretty good chance. i dont think they can stop drew, he is smarter than anyone on their defense and they seem to have integrated the new (HE) and returning but non functional players (JS) well within the offense.

but that secondary.....are they really any better? as i type that, i know the answer already - it couldnt have gotten any worse- thanks for the memories mckenzie, kevin k and of course jason david.....(most of those memories being rather bad).

i am excited, not the least because i think the saints are clearly better than carolina, tampa and probably atlanta within the division. i get to go to 3 games this year (NYG, DAL, TB) and am looking forward to a 11-5 year.

i dont underestimate buffalo, but i also dont think they have the ability to outthink drew. i am expecting another 35 point minimum put up by the saints. it is great, just great, that drew is able to integrate so many into the process. the only drawback so far is the huge, continuing disappointment of reggie bust(h). geez, he still has it in his head that he can outrun NFL quality special teamers and outside linebackers. that said, his touchdown yesterday was a nice moment-he actually ran between tackles and didnt flinch. if he were just a bit smarter, he could be a starter in new orleans. until then, he is basically a waste of a first round pick.

and where did this robert meachem come from? yipes! maybe the lesson for me here is to be more patient with reggie.

and where did this robert meachem come from? yipes! maybe the lesson for me here is to be more patient with reggie.

Meachem was the Saints first round pick in '07 from Tennessee. Much like Devery Henderson, a great deal of patience has been needed for him to develop into an impact player. In their case it has been a learning curve of the pro game and in Meachem's case, an injury. With Colston healthy again, along with Lance Moore, the Saints present with a lot of weapons at the receiver position along with Reggie Bush. As much as I would love to see it happen, I don't think that Reggie will stop running, in the words of Hokie Gajan, like a "sprayed roach". The good news is that the Saints can win without him. If they stay healthy it could be a special year, but it is a long season and tougher challenges lie in wait.

Dr. A.
09-21-2009, 01:58 PM
yeah, of course i know who robert is and where he came from, but until the last two games i chalked him up as a failed first round choice. he isnt colston/moore/henderson/shockey, and i had given up on him, but perhaps i was mistaken to do so.

i hear that buffalo was hit hard by injuries against tampa. anyone know what bell's status is for us? thomas? geez, dont tell me we have to start reggie! at least point him towards canada and tell him to go that way in the buffalo game.

Bell says he will probably be ready for next week but is probably out for next week now that Thomas is back so the continuity of the backfield should not be disrupted.

Dr. A.
09-28-2009, 09:09 AM
not as high flying as the previous wins, and i am sorta glad. proves the saints can win without drew throwing for 300. defense allows no points. thomas looks 100%. reggie looks......well, he didnt look like he was having a very good time out there. isnt this the last year of his contract? i cant imagine the saints investing much money in him for next year. based on the year so far, he is pretty worthless. the one time he ran between the tackles yesterday he fell to the ground virtually untouched as a lineman brushed by him. too soft, too stupid to take up a roster spot on a team that can contend for at least a division, maybe a conference, maybe........title.

Yep, had the fried erster salad too. And you ain't kidding about that Alan Benton bacon. I had never had it or even heard of it before, but from reading the menu I could tell it was going to be something special--so much so that I confirmed that the bacon on the fried oyster salad was the AB bacon too before ordering it. Amazing. Never heard of before yesterday, and now I don't know if I can live without frequent doses of it. Thanks again for the inspiration.

i will not be jumpin on the saints band wagon because i do not want to curse them.
back in the late 80's when the Cardinals moved to AZ we didnt have a team to route for. the saints were doing fairly well and while in NOLA for a halloween visit (pre anne rice so not a huge event) we decided to become Saints fans. they started losing right after than and ended up with a less than stellar season. so i will do my quiet routing for the saints that i do every year. heck, this year i would even route for them to beat the rams (except i will be out of town for that game).

Ditto. The last 10 years in DC have been shear hell. (Bush wasn't helping any either) My parents were season ticket holders for longer than I've been alive, and before she passed, my Mom stated that she has never seen the Skins in such disarray.
I've been a Saints fan since my daze at Tulane in the late 70's early 80's. I even have one of the paper bags I used to wear back then. I'm thinking of breaking it out for the next Skins game, as I now have the tix. Luckily it's a bye week. (Sadly, I think the bye is favored by 10.) I'll be wearing my Saints hat when they play the Skins in Dec.

Ed just announced to me today that his heart is with the Saints and is considering jumping ship from the Cowboys bandwagon. He's been a Cowboys fan since he was a kid. Told him to wait until the Saints/Cowboys have a match up next season and his heart will lead him......I'm hoping it's with the Black and Gold...who dat!!

IMO Ed should stay the course. It's impossible for folks like us not to love this Saints team, but I am a firm believer that you don't switch teams. The Saints are and have been my second-favorite team for a while, and I have never been happier for another team's win than I was last night. I wore the garb head to toe and rooted them on throughout the playoffs as though they were my own--but that's because "my" team, the Giants, were eliminated. It will be the same next season. There is no conflict except for maybe one or two games a year; same for him as for me because both of our teams are in the same division.

I hate the Cowboys probably more than any other football team, so I have no interest in encouraging their fanbase. But I think a guy has got to stick with his team through thick and thin and shouldn't change teams. Just one guy's opinion.

Same here- rooted the Saints on, but my team is the sorry ass Bengals. And always is until they are eliminated each year.

Well I understand what you're saying completely and have a feeling when next season comes around he's going with the Cowboys....he loves them way too much and I think that's where his heart will be for 2010. I think his statement was based on pure emotion...deep down it'll be the 'Boys for him....iccck!!!

Well, I root for four teams every Sunday: The Jets, the Giants, the Saints, and whoever's playing the Cowboys.

They rarely play each other, so it works just fine for me. Just don't have two favorites in the same division.

Las Vegas gives the Cowboys a better chance of winning the Super Bowl next year then the Saints. Colts are favored, then Green Bay ?????

I'll bet those odds are driven by losers who are still in denial and dreaming of breaking even. The Saints demonstrated all the intangibles that champions build upon. They remind me of SF during the breakout season of 81-82. The last two games, they went head to head with the best of the league, beating two very good teams who were on their game. Although behind in every playoff game, they never paused to doubt their own destiny. I see a organization that will be at or near the top for some time to come. I only wish thatthey could share a little magic with my Raiders.
