Totally understand! If you get a split for Sunday and would rather do Friday and want to switch with us, maybe we could work that out!

Thanks again Amy,
You're a sweetheart for offering. I will either just stop by and volunteer when I have free time or I will work out a time on Sunday. You already have your plans made and I would not want to inconvienience anyone.

We are ready to take signups now! Go to www.threadheads.org (http://www.threadheads.org) and click on the Volunteer link on the popup menu at Ms Lena's Brigade.

Ms Lena has confirmed that she will again be able to offer a complimentary 1-day fest ticket for each volunteer for each day you work a shift. These are weekend-specific but can be used any day of that weekend. Details about using these tickets will be covered on the upcoming Details & Info page when it becomes active. She also has a limited number of parking passes so request those sparingly. (Volunteer Parking lots are located off Belfort Ave. near the volunteer entry gate.) She will also have official Zulu Diamondcutter's Krewe Tshirts for each volunteer.

There will be two shifts each fest day: 9:45 am - 2pm and 2pm - 6pm. You may split a 4-hour shift with someone but I need you to only sign up as one person. We need a body count... not necessarily a complete roster of who's going to be there. It's up to you to make those arrangements.

The other links on the popup will become active well before fest giving you specific details and maps. For those of you that worked last year it will most likely remain the same. We'll know more after the the vendors have their official meeting with the fest organizers.

Any questions can be posted here or emailed to me through the link on the popup.

Are you ready??

I said, "Are you READY?"

"HOT WOMEN!! COLD BEER!!"
"Get your COLD COLD BEER HERE!!!"

Bumpin for newbies to volunteer in the afternoons :D

Throwing this back to the front page. Only 10 days or so left to sign up.

Before I forget I just want to say a big ol' thanks to those that have signed up. We've doubled the spaces filled from last year!

A big shout out to the Tulane School of Public Health, friends of Ms Lena's and, of course, all you lover-ly T'heads that have volunteered to take time out of your fest vacations to help out.

Y'all RAWK!!

I'm signed up for the 2nd weekend, but don't mind helping out on the first. Of course FOMS plays a big part.

The 10-2 shifts are full 1st weekend, so if anyone thinks they can't make it on any of those, let me know and I'll take it for you. Or, I'm willing to split a 2-6 shift if anybody's interested.

I can help 2-4 on Friday or 4-6 on Sunday if someone can take the other two hours.

Hey, cbh... was just wondering.

Last year I noticed at one of the "other" beer tents they had a little laminated grid/spreadsheet on the counter that helped with the calculations --- it showed how much for various quantities of beer, water, soft drinks. Looked like a good idea, esp for those of us who had trouble doin the cipherin in our heads. I'd be happy to make up such a page - if we can get the menu & prices. I'm sure I could get it to someone who will be there 1st weekend.

I'm sorry that I got real tied up at the radio station after work yesterday. I'm good for either if you want to do it. I didn't get a chance to e-mail you, but I'll try to do so when I'm at home briefly today. I try not to use the work e-mail for non-work stuff, especially since it's the gubment.

You should be set. The grid won't show both names since I just need to know the number of shift spots filled but I have Festnut down for 2nd shifts on both 1st Friday and 1st Sunday.

Once I (or technically, Ohio - Thanks, Bry!!) get it updated, let me know if I have anything wrong.

Holy cow, I've already been at work for an hour!

To whoever stepped up and became my "back" yesterday afternoon...THANK YOU! I was a bit tired and more than a bit ticked off that the other three people working with me all disappeared! You were a life saver and I didn't even get your name! You rock, really!!! I was one of the few people working in the afternoon that didn't have on a yellow shirt. Ms. Lena had just given away her last one but said she'd keep one back for me next weekend.

To 99.99% of the customers, you also rock! I'm sorry we didn't have Fosters, and I'm really sorry that in the afternoon we ran out of pretty much everything! To the others, stop being asses and trying to make me feel bad that because you think the beer is too expensive. I'm not buying the fact that the tent "just over there" is selling beers for $3. If they are, why are you in line at Ms. Lena's?

I met FestNut after my shift! You rock muchly! To everyone else...I'm actually incredibly shy, so I'm sorry I didn't walk up and introduce myself. To the person with the "will spank for a cold beer" buttons...thank you! I did go up and ask for one...and then someone also gave me some egg-looking things that make noise. Thank you as well!

I was the one with the cargo shorts and the blue/white striped button up shirt on. I also had on a black baseball cap that says "scissors cuts paper".

hi! ;)

Rowen, sorry you didn't have the best experience at Ms Lenas. They have a tough time getting workers for the afternoons, although we were well covered on Friday arvo. Good on you for sticking it out.

We won't be there next weekend but please do yourself a major favour and introduce yourself to the crew at the meet ups... you'll love it! Cheers.

Hey Y'all. I had a good time working at Ms Lena's tent. It's dayum busy though! WOW. Linda was a kick ass back up for me yesterday.

When 6pm rolled on Sunday, I was hanging solo at the 'window'! I looked around and thought, well, there's not much left anyway, so oh well.

Nametags are a great idea, but I'm more concerned about the beer supply. This is the 2nd or 3rd thread that I've read that talks about running out of beer........Hope they're going to rectify this situation before these souls get to town!!!

Had a great time working Ms. Lena's (first shift, Friday - good way to meet Threads for the 1st time!)...hella-busy, but still had fun. A little challenging "backing" folks (plunging my hands in ice cold water is NOT my idea of fun!), but hey, it was for a good cause!

Just out of curiousity, where does the "tip" money go? I assume it goes to something like NOMC, Red Cross, Second Harvest, etc., but didn't find out where exactly it went (I know I didn't see any!;) ).

Good times, good times...

Hey PB, glad you enjoyed it. Still lookign forward to my shift on Saturday. Pretty sure the tips go to the Zulu Diamondcutters, along with the profits from the beverage sales.
