Threadhead Records artists!!
I asked Alex McMurray, but he's busy. I thought of Shamarr Allen - who is a graduate of the Heritage School alum. The venue suggested Susan Cowsill. I'm also thinking about Glenn David Andrews. I love John Boutte but don't think he's like playing in such a loud venue. Any other ideas?

Paul Sanchez could probably round up all of them, including John (except for those that have a schedule conflict).

I figured as much. ;->
Yep, Paul is also on the list. But this is a fund-raiser with a very small budget, so not sure how many we could get for what I have available.

I'm voting for Susan Cowsill or Paul Sanchez, perhaps Debbie Davis and Matt Perrine??

Richie Havens has never disappointed me!! He is not only extremely talented but he is one genuinely NICE guy!! Thinkin a threadhead artist opener Paul Sanchez and...... would be perfect!!

Paul Sanchez will be on the show. Thanks to Dale and Dixie at Chicki Wah Wah for letting Paul finish his set there a little early so he can scoot over to our gig.
We were hoping Paul might do a duet with Susan Cowsill, but apparently she's got a gig out of town.
The Heritage School of Music kids will perform, too. It's going to be a great night.

Good news: Not only is Shamarr Allen a Threadhead Records artist, he is also a graduate of the Heritage School of Music (see: http://www.jazzandheritage.org/detail?cat=p&id=6).
AND he and Paul Sanchez are great friends who perform often together AND are making a joint record (pun intended) called "Bridging the Gap."
So they will be the opening act for Richie Havens. I'm very excited about it.
The students and faculty of the Heritage School all will perform.
I expect the Heritage School kids to start at 8:30, Paul and Shamarr to start at 10, and Richie to start at 11 or 11:30.
If you haven't already checked it out, tickets are on sale at:
http://www.ticketweb.com/t3/sale/SaleEventDetail?dispatch=loadSelectionData&eventId=2529224
As you hopefully know, nearly all of the shows we do have no admission fee. This one is a benefit to support our free after-school music program, so we hope that people won't mind paying for tickets.
Besides, we've got Buddy Guy, Irma Thomas, Sonny Landreth, T-Model Ford, Bobby Rush (!) and many more performing over the next two days at our Blues & BBQ Festival (www.jazzandheritage.org/blues-fest) - all for no cover. So please help us support a worthy cause.
Many thanks,
Scott

Scott, thank you for all you and your krewe do. I have seen much free music at these jazz and heritage events, so I do not mind coughing up the dough for a worthy cause.
This is great. I've always wanted to see Richie and never have. Just bought my ticket; I should get there just in time for Richie's set (and with any luck it'll be typical New Orleans time and I can catch at least part of Paul and Shamarr's set too...).
So this makes it easy; I guess this is where I'll meet up with y'all too. NOLA, still in for breakfast at Elizabeth's on Saturday? Anyone else want to join?
PS: NOLA, let me know of any developments on the game ticket. Thanks.

You're in for a treat. He's great and will stay long after his set to sign autographs or talk or take pictures.

Lit, it is good to see you back on the bored! Glad to hear the eye seems to be getting better.
We saw Richie at Suwannee Springfest earlier this year - what a great show.
Yep, we are still on for breakfast at Elizabeth's on Saturday.
Will start checking on the Oct. 18 game with some fellow season ticket holders at the dome opener tomorrow. Geaux Saints!
Thanks NOLA. Sorry to hear about your knee injury but glad to see that you are on the mend too. Between you, Lester and me we have had quite the infirmary here of late!
I think I have your e-mail addy somewhere from the CFF list this year; I'll look for it next week when I return to w*rk and shoot you an e-mail so we can keep in touch off-bored about any ticket developments, etc.
And yes, Geaux Saints (and Giants) in the meantime.
