And we're marching to Bastille Day
La guillotine will claim her bloody prize
Sing, oh choirs of cacophony
The king has kneeled, to let his kingdom rise

Lessons taught but never learned
All around us anger burns
Guide the future by the past
Long ago the mould was cast

For they marched up to Bastille Day
La guillotine claimed her bloody prize
Hear the echoes of the centuries
Power isn't all that money buys

Listening to some French music in honor of the day right now... French CAJUN music:

http://www.venerablemusic.com/catalog/TitleDetails.asp?TitleID=14270

this is a really great collection of "home songs" by Cajun women, a tradition that is pretty much lost now.

Already working on the wine (VERY long day with 19 5 year olds) and the hub made homemade bread last night that will go very nicely with the slab of red rind cheese I have. Sounds like supper to me!

Brave or foolhardy?
As long as they're willing to pay me the big bucks to teach art camp, I'm willing to swill wine when I get home!

Le drapeau tricolore a symbolisé les trois idéaux de la République : Liberté, Égalité et Fraternité pour tous les citoyens français.

I will drink a glass of French red wine in their honour!

I don't care for them either, but when I said that to one of the camp helpers today her response was; "Meat on a stick. What's not to like?" Now if someone would just figure out how to put a baked potato-covered sirloin on a stick we'd be in bidness!

Aw, that's beautiful....sniff. I was eagerly waiting for the 24" Stonehenge to descend from the ceiling to the stage, but alas, it was not to be. Even a few plastic pods would have been a nice touch, but perhaps back in the mid 70's, they couldn't afford them...

At the Leland festival this year, they had fried maccaroni and cheese with ham on a stick. My arteries closed just looking at it, but those who tried it said it was pretty good.

Our local ballpark had fried mac and cheese (your choice of ham or bacon) bites, but not on a stick. Mmmmm....tasty little things.
