Oh to have the funds and the time cause missing the wedding and festgiving is a heartbreak. Besides my taste buds could use some New Orleans flavored Jenn cooking right about now.

Have fun for all who can make it and to Lis have a great wedding sweets..

Seems a lot of us do Thurs-Monday. I just can't go to Nola for anything less than a long weekend. :D

I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can get the time off from work. I have the leave time, but you can't submit it till 60 days prior. The choice period annual leave I used for Jazz Fest, and that is submitted in early January. Also, since two employees were excessed out of our craft, that makes the employee seniority list even smaller, so they are usually allowing maximum of 4 off. This is SO frustrating. Looks like there are 2 openings for the week that I want, but I just gotta bite the bullet till the end of August (60 days prior). I have never had a problem getting any leave for New Orleans trips previously....but with the workforce facing excessing, it has me concerned. Then, I've got Jazz Fest to deal with...and getting my dates for that. I am 16 on a seniority list of 28 or something like that. Usually there haven't been too many interested in taking leave during the JF weekends, but ya never know! Anyway, I have to think positive for Festgiving for starters. I am SO anxious to be there, as you all know. But, can't make reservations yet:( Keep me in your prayers!:)

I've never had much trouble getting JF off as long as it was the first thing I went for. Most of the people with high seniority eat up the summer vacations first. The fall is often tough for me. I can get a lot of incidental leave at the last minute but not lots of weeks in advance.

Thanks Stax for the positive outlook. The max allowed off this year was five for choice leave. I'm assuming next year will be four, with the two already excessed, and maybe two more. Of course I put in for Fest the first thing, but you never know. If it came down to that period being maxed out...I'm not beneath asking a co-worker with seniority if they are flexible and how much it means to me to have that time off. Everyone knows I go every year. I just gotta belief the 'Jazz Fest Gods' will make it happen:)

Has anyone booked a room?
I reviewed hotwire for the period of Wed, November 4th thru Monday, November 9 and saw a three star, FQ for $62 a night.

Thinking about confirming it during lunch. I assume it's one of the Holiday Inns.

Me? Nah.....just a clerk who is keeping his fingers crossed that I can get leave for Festgiving! Won't know till I put in for it 60 days prior. Right now, I am in Montreal enjoying myself very much. I have the leave saved for the fall...but it depends if the calendar is full or not. Gotta think positive!:) Montreal is a great city....weather has been cool for this time of year...most days are in the low 70s...I love it!! Barely a day that has hit 80. There is a major comedy festival going on that I love....Just For Laughs Festival. Great street comedy, comedy shows, festive atmosphere and great vibes. Very laid back city...and the French ambience is very nice. I know enough French to understand basics, but most speak English well. Every day (in the summer anyway) is like a festival....lots of other stuff going on. Great food! Dollar not good for Americans this time around unfortunately. I will be missing Satchmo Fest, because I can't afford to do it all. Hope you all have a blast!:D

If you researched the origins of Festgiving, I won't go over that...
Festgiving Central is in chilly Gentilly @ the Casa de Jamn (Jenn and David's home)There is a large dinner with lots of mighty good food and friends.
This year, the extra special added event is the nuptials of Lisa (Corona) and Ed (Ed).
I'm sure that Jenn will chime in and suggest a dish or dessert or something to bring to the festivities.....stay tuned ;) :D

i love 'Ed (Ed)', this will forever be his name to me.

i believe the Jamns have the food/menu handled. but i bet voluntary contributions of a $ type would be accepted to help defer expenses. and of course, libations of any type would never be discouraged.

but it never hurts to volunteer. they might need pre-festgiving help (can you chop?), or maybe some fridge space, and there's always clean up.

We'll all chip in. Plenty. Isn't that what festgiving is all about?
