Hi there,

Is there anone who I could arrange to meet at the fest so that I can be sure of catching up with all you threadheads or, as was said in a few of the first responses to my post, do you stand out a mile? Where d'ya hang out? I am going to be staying at the Best Western - pretty central I believe?

Thank you to everyone who posted suggestions for where to go for harmonica books and music. The music store in my town has a v tiny blues/jazz section - trust me it's embarrassing to describe how small it is. They say to me it's becasue there isn't enough demand :( So you see for me it is going to be such a breath of fresh air to meet you guys :)

Sarah, what weekend are you attending? There are threahead meetups every day at the fest, usually around 1 PM or so...also, attending one of the mid-week parties is a great way to meet fellow threadheads.

Our meetups are easy to find - dozens of folks hanging out in an otherwise empty field. Check back after the cubes come out, and we'll have exact times set.

Hi,

I shall be there for the second weekend, but it is difficult to say when I shall be arriving because I am doing a 'package' holiday and they will not be sending me an itinery till 10 days before I leave. I'll be able to let u know on the 15th April.

I know it seems as though it would be difficult to meet threadheads, but it really isn't. I'm sure that even away from the fest, it will be easy to arrange. At the fest it will be simple. Finding a particular person depends on their ability to stand still for a few seconds. I've found the meetings to be the best way. I still haven't found that CD and book, but if I do, they're yours.

One good way to meet folks is to purchase and wear threadhead shirts.
http://www.cafepress.com/jfthreadhead

You'll be surprised how many people come up and say hi. And you should do the same - whenever you see a threadhead shirt in a crowd, walk up and introduce yourself.

Also look around at all of the flagpoles people set up. Keep an eye out for a long, narrow yellow banners that read"Threadheads" and then trot on over and say hi.

You'll wind up meeting a whole lot of us that way.

TH's are like magnets - they just seem to attrack (if using the proper ends).

allow extra time when walking from one stage to another so you have time to stop & greet.

Liuzza's after the fest (just 3 short blocks fromthe Sauvage entrace to fest). the Kat's meet on fridays, but there are usually some Kat's & Threadheads there every night - and before fest too.

i imagine there is more than 1 Bestwestern in town. make sure you memorize the address and have some general directions. we've had 'new' cabbies that didnt know were basic things were, like certain hotels or Maple Leaf.

It's so unlike me to mis a mimosa opportunity. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!! ;)

By the way, being the baseball junkie I am, we are going to check out a Zephyrs game on May 2nd 11:30AM. It'll be Mets AAA vs Astros AAA. Even though I am a lifelong fan of that other NY team, baseball IS baseball!

I actually prefer Bellinis myself (yum!) . . .

Zephyrs games are so much fun!!! I went to one way back when they were still a farm team for the Brewers (or maybe the Cardinals, I don't remember) in the mid 90's and it's a great place to see baseball. The food's rather good and the beer is plentiful and not too expensive! :D

I haven't been able to get out there in recent years, as I don't have access to a car when there for JF and there aren't any bus routes out that way from where I stay.

i have wanted to catch a Zephyr's game for years - but their home games during fest always conflicted with other plans. may 2 i drop Jim off at the airport early. i hope to go to Ingrids BYP later. leaves plenty of time for a ballgame.
i have a car. you want a ride?
warning - i will be wearing my Cardinals hat!

The games still are real fun!!!! AAA ball is so much more family oriented than the "biggies", so they have to have fun there for the families. They usually have concerts after the game or fireworks, etc. For the purists, the site lines at Zepher Field are great, and the food ain't bad. A good time will be had by all! :D  :D

The fun thing about the Z's being in the same league as our hometown Sacramento River Cats is that I do get to see them out here - but as they have one of the more funner home stadiums and mascots (gotta love them Boudreaux and Clotile Nutria), it's a must-see!

Some baseball fans my want to consider catching the Tulane vs UNO game the night of the patry (esp. if you didn't get tix). The Pelican Cup series always has close, hard fought games. It should be in the brand new Turchin Stadium on Tulane's campus. It is supposed to be one of the finest college fields once completed.

There's two of us and a cab is fine. We can figure it out when we get closer. If there are 20 of us, we can get group tickets & for and addl $9 personalized group t-shirts!

home email is www.ckobrin@pacbell.net

The only thing better than going to a game at Zephyr Field is doing so with a group of 20 or more friends.

You can reserve tickets to any game and we'll guarantee that your group sits together for a great outing at Zephyr Field.

Tickets are available for $6.50, $7.50 & $8.50.

Groups also get their name listed on the outfield scoreboard, can purchase group t-shirts and the option to purchase "Stadium Bucks" to distribute to group members - redeemable for food, parking and merchandise.

Personalized Group T-Shirts are a great way to commemorate your group's trip to Zephyr Field.

With the Zephyrs logo on the front and a logo/design of your choosing on the back of the shirt, your group can have a fun and lasting way to remember the good times had out at the ballpark.

The cost is $9 per shirt for a group of 20 or greater, and $8 for group of 50 or greater.

As a special incentive, we'll design a Zephyrs "Group Leader T-Shirt" that will identify you as the leader of the pack if you are in a group of 100 or more.

Come out to the "Shrine on Airline" and proudly let other Zephyrs fans know what group you are with!

Remember, personalized group t-shirts must be ordered no later than two weeks prior to the game.

2001 I think, was staying out in an apt in Metarie for JF, I begged my ex to take me the game (his nickname is mr anti-fun...guess why he's my ex?)
It was a beautiful day, and the crowd was so into it! My favorite was this kid who was selling those little hot tamales out of a galvanized bucket...I didn't have any...but it was a great day to soak up baseball, sun and the local scene.
Rats..the 2nd is Rosetree openhouse and Ponderosa stomp at night...already promised my ma i'd take her to Rosetree's...and NUTTIN...get's in the way of the stomp!

We're not emulating the Raiders - the Red Sox Nation had it first - but the Raiders stole it. Plus, not to mention that the Raiders ("Commitment to Excellence," my ass) are so sucky these days that I don't think there's much of a nation left of Raiders fans. No, MGbaby...the coolest spot is the swimming pool in the right field corner! I wonder if you have to rent the whole thing or just a number of tix????

i thought the pool sounded awesome - i was thinking hot day.
website said 50 tix minimum for the pool. it hold 100. and the group things are $36 per, but i think it includes, maybe even beer. that's a great price to me, but others may be looking at spending less.
on second thought, that would involve a bathing suit. not my best look.

i thought the levee would be good with a group - no structure/assigned seats. much more social.

I like that idea a lot too. I'm interested in going. Wednesday is going to be crazy -

Rosetree's in Algiers at 9am
Zephyrs at 11:30
Marcia in the Park at 5pm-7ish
Ingrid's party 5-10pm,
Ponderosa Stomp.

Yikes!

Well, I can skip Marcia in the park, been there many years now. Ingrid's sounds too good to miss, and I've never been. And the stomp goes on all night, so I can always head there after Ingrids.

And all of this is after the 10 hour marathon Threadhead Patry the day before

Jeeze, I hope I can keep up!

FOWO!! (Fear of wimping out)

best thing for a hangover is to get up and start moving. not that anyone will have a hangover from the patry.
but between that, other plans and weather, i'd like to leave it open for people to join or no-show as needed. fest the way you want to!
i have to take jim to the airport so i can't make 9am. how late does the open house run? i was hoping to make it by after the game. i love the ferry ride - not sure if i'm done it with a car. thinking i'll skip Marcia in the Square this year - definitely going to try to do Ingrid's party.

Well, seeing how this year will be the 2nd Annual, we'll give you a pass on that.

Don't believe anything anyone has said.

You must sacrifice a chicken in the middle of the fairgrounds on the first day of fest just as Jupiter aligns with Mars in order to become a Threadhead. We also have a secret handshake.

i prefer kissing* to handshaking at the fest. a lot less germs and its a great way to steal lipbalm.

I am here M-F 9-5.Blowing glass 9-4. I'm here for a few hours on Sat but not making glass. 'Tween days I am setting up at the Fairgrounds on Thursday,(I'm showing in Contemporary Crafts 2nd wknd) so I won't be working at the studio either. If you come in before Fest, I'm here. If you stay after Fest, I'm still here. We love to have people come watch, so don't think that you are imposing. So I guess the schedual looks like this:

April 23-27--regular hours 9-4
April30 Mon--9-4
May1--Patry Day--9-3 (gotta go to da Patry)
May2 --Rosetree Open House/Meet up--9-4
May3--Gallery open, but I'm setting up @FG
May4--2nd Friday of Fest --@ ContemporaryCrafts
Monday May7--recover-open 9-5

Sorry Barb, I should have been clearer! I just assumed that y'all would know that Friday meant the whole weekend. We are showing all three days of the second weekend. I won't know the tent position until we set up on Thursday. You will be able to spot me by the Threadhead banner in the booth!;)
